works, but extremely slow.
u did it now, visited the panerai website for the 1st time in my life .....

I did keep mum during the model selection, as I've probably overdone my involvement during the "2013 Best breitling" competition - and the fact that the only two watches that would have made my list of "best" JLC seem to be loosing in the pre-elections shows this was a smart move; subdued elegance doesn't seem to cut it .....

As did I. Really can't get my head around those watches.

Some very interesting selections. The JLC were by far the watches I was most interested in (with the exception of Omega). I think this will end up being a good competition.

Thanks again Roff for all the work.

We'll have a separate one for us old and old at heart folks who appreciate true taste

Based on what I told you yesterday I am seriously considering cancelling the whole thing if results don't change in the next few days!

Is this advertised enough to get the attention of everyone that comes to the site? Is there a way to make a banner on the homepage? I'm just trying to drive more voters!

Yeah that's what I was wondering. I know there are the "daily" people but there are a lot of people who quickly browse for info or just to ask a question.. Not sure if everyone is getting the message or what?

Well given that the Breitling competition was a sticky in the most popular section for weeks and still couldn't muster 50 votes I don't think that more visibility is going to help. Similarly, last year's Breitling competition got way more interest with fewer members and no more advertising.

I dont know alot about all those nice watches
But i clicked on all the links per model and choose what appealed to me , disregarding price etc, hell, some brands i only choose 2 instead of the allowed 4

This will be an interesting vote for me as i didnt know many of the runners, i will say though that i will stop voting if and when i dont like any of them , and will not choose between 'i dont like that and i really dont like that'

I voted yesterday. Gotta admit, I missed the location as to where to cast the vote. That's why I hadn't done so sooner. I don't post much but I read your postings and love the info. And I looked up every watch all of you posted here. Any of my suggestions had already need posted anyhow.

And I'm kinda of parcial to my Omega Planet Ocean 8500.

Keep up the good work!

Preliminary voting for the specific brands has now finished.

It may take me a few days to get the 'play in round' sorted out that gets us down to the final 64. Unless anyone has any objections I'm just going to come up with a random selection of watches but will re select if it ends up with two watches from the same brand matched up against one another. I'll use random.org as usual.

Edit - forget that.

Omega and Zenith have two watches tied for 4th place so new 3 day voting threads as a tie breaker fro just those two:

Omega - viewtopic.php?f=25&t=51316

Zenith - viewtopic.php?f=25&t=51315

Tie breaker winners are in, I'll get to the preliminary round when I get a chance. With Christmas around the corner I'm not sure when - the two tie brekaers got 15 and 14 votes respectively so I don't think anyone is waiting with bated breath!

Just a quick update....

We're down to 75 after the brand specific preliminaries so there will be 11 'play in' match ups to get us to the final 64. I just need to parse through all of the links for the watches (a pain as the forum software abbreviates them in the listing) and then create all of the threads. Hope to have the prelims up by the weekend.

edit - bad math, 79 after the brand specific preliminaries because of the 4 Breitlings so 15 'play in' match ups on their way.
