Agreed - especially the steel / titanium / gold version.

Unfortunately that's $36K!

I'm not sure that the Longines are unique enough for what I'm looking for at the moment, but the Lindbergh is a very nice look. I'm not sure that the Weems is differnet enough to take me to Longines (sorry - my watch snobbery again).

The Gevrils that you referenced in another thread are a little closer to what I am looking for, but I think Louis Moinet has spoilt me for others right now.

I was at Birks Jewellers in Vancouver yesterday. They are not selling the Gevrils any more. I used to go in there on and off over the past couple of years, and the same models seemed to be in the display case every time. The lowest priced one was 3695CAD, so you could get one for not too bad a price, that is basic movement with only date complication.
It is too bad. I really like dealing with Birks, but business is really slow for them. There has been a lot of construction right by their store in Vancouver for the past couple of years, with the new Canada Line train going in, and I think that has really effected them. Very difficult to get to their downtown store. It seems they discontinued another line, but I can't remember which one.
Cheers,
Carl

No I hadn't - that's a good price too - I wouldn't expect a perpetual alarm for that kind of money to carry a JLC badge.

So many watches, so little money :|

One that I have had my eye on for years, and I actually saw one at Rodeo Jewelles here in Vancouver, is the Longines Charles Lindbergh Hour Angle Watch, a good description of which can be found here:
http://www.happy-day.ch/news/luxury/the ... watch.html

and another very special one, my favourite, called the "Weems Second Setting" edition:

Carl, I've been eyeing the Weems and Lindbergh for quite a while now, but at their price point, even second-hand, its hard to justify for a Longines (my watch snobbery as well). I like Longines, but I like them at $1000, not at $2500. I have a friend who is a Longines dealer in West Van.. I may see if he can cut me a dealio some time.

I was quite mesmerized by Louis Monet's unique looking dials and movement finishing.. they have quite a big line too. Who's the Canadian Dealer you were dealing with?

There isn't one.

I am talking to Michael Miller in Chicago - but not that impressed.

I am also talking via e-mail with Michael Brader-Araje the North American president of Louis Moinet so may ask him for an alternative.

I'm still semi-seriously thinking of getting into the business so maybe I could become a Canadian distributor!!!
