The lack of discounts and ever increasing prices is what's making me sick of the watch game. What happened to the good ol' days of getting a great watch for 2 - 3k or worst case 5k for something really good. I spent several weeks last month searching for and buying the new Omega PO 8500 at a fair price. Now to add a RUBBER strap with deployant it's another $600.00 or so. What BS!! ..and that doesn't stand for Breitling Source. lol

As far as George is concerned, Justin is right. He must be doing really well because he didn't even return my call like he promised to confirm inventory on the watch.

In fairness, I did get a discounted quote last year from George on an IWC product. Price was reasonable and on an LE. Had a few months shelf life, though.

Congrats on the acquisition Sergio. That's a really beautiful watch. I've only seen photos but it strikes me as a watch that will look even better in person. I too am interested in a Pilot (though not until next year) and that one is on the short list. Enjoy in good health.

A very sharp piece... a pilot strap with deployant on that baby would look super nice... sort of a mini BP...

Congrats!

Thanks, it already has a deploy but I am in the process of finding a pilot strap for it. I want one that looks exactly like the Big Pilot strap. Unfortunately the BP strap is 1mm too big and I'm not sure if IWC makes an OEM Pilot in 21mm. I've put a call into a few IWC ADs to see if they can source one, if not, then I'll go with a good quality aftermarket strap maker. But I agree, a pilot strap will look very cool on there.

Prolly because the previous version of the spitfire came on tang....and I believe the top guns did as well. I was happy to hear that IWC would be releasing this model with a deploy however they should have upped the msrp $200 and included a pilot strap as well.

Or just put it on a pilot strap from the start... I like their two piece canvas as well...

Sergio, congrats again on a true classic. Love the new dial. Let's see some pics! :D As for the discount issue, who wouldn't shop around for the best price on a high end watch? My Breitling AD is awesome because she gives me a nice discount, plus ZERO percent financing. It took a while to find an AD like that, and I found her thanks to this website. :D It is the only AD I will buy Breitlings from. But since she does not carry Omega, IWC, or Panerai, I go elsewhere for those. But the hunt is half the fun!

That's a beauty Sergio, congratulations. I like the size, dial, and even the date wheel is growing on me. Enjoy and good luck finding that strap.

Sergio, your comments about straps reminded me of looking for one for my 3717 (also 21mm). I'm pretty sure IWC don't make a pilot strap in that size, or at least they didn't a couple of years ago.

In the end I went with one from HKTan, which took a few weeks but the quality was good. I understand why you would prefer OEM though (I would too).

Otto, you're right IWC does not make a pilot strap in 21. I reached out to quite a few strap makers and I happened to find one who had a brand new 22mm oem IWC Big Pilot strap that he never wore so I had him shave 0.5mm off on all 4 sides then dye the sides black to match the rest of the strap. He said you can't even tell he modified it. I got it dirt cheap and I'll have it next week. I think it will look great!! At least I hope it does.

Thanks. I really like the date wheel, it flows with the pilot themed watches really well. Some people hate it but I think it's cool.
