I respect your opinion, but to me there is absolutely no way that the Bremont is in the same league as the DSSD, it's not even the same sport. I do like them though and maybe if I could see one in person I'd change my mind, but it still seems pricey to me. At $5k it's close to the same price as the IWC and more than an Omega PO chrono, which is also in a different league in my humble opinion.

Between the divers I would also suggest the Omega Seamaster Pro Chronograph....very nice and more affordable than the IWC if price is an issue. This piece has all the bells and whistles such as the chronograph functions, seconds hand, hour totalizer, minute totalizer, seconds subdial, date window, unidirectional bezel, and helium escape valve. The lumes are pretty impressive at night and the bracelet has the built in wet suit extension as well. The bezel diameter is 41.5 mm, 44 mm lug to lug, 16.5mm thick to the top of the crystal, and weighs in at an impressive 200 grams. I've included a few shots of the one in my humble collection.

Montexn, Thanks for sharing these pictures and the suggestion. That is a nice watch indeed :D I like the fact that its a chronometer as well and I think everyone will agree that Omega's are extremely precise.

I do love diver watches and I fully intend to build up my collection with further diver pieces in the future. I haven't had the opportunity to try the Omega Seamaster Pro Chronograph yet. By the pictures you posted though it looks like it would suit my tastes better than the Omega PO. I think its the design of the case and the sides of the case leading to the bracelet of the PO that I'm not sure about...the case is more oval than round. Your Seamaster Pro Chrono looks to have more of a round case, proper thickness, and a nice curvy design leading to the lugs...all this appeals to me more...a serious contender for the future. I am looking forward to trying one out.

Thanks again,
Alex

You are most welcome Alex, I think you will like the looks of it over the PO, but then again it's all about individual tastes. I really like this piece a lot, as the BIG hands are real easy to read and the lumes are very easy to see in low light. It has a classy look to it that IMO rivals the Rolex Sub and for the price points I think it's a bargain. MFSR new it lists for around $3650 and I've seen some really good buys for pre-owned for between 2-2.5k with all the boxes, papers, and manuals. I saw one new on the Bay awhile back for $2800 which I thought was a pretty good deal. From what I've seen they seem to hold their value pretty good too, which is always a plus when it comes time to flip one for obtaining another piece.

:yeahthat Absolutely spot on. The Bremont is nowhere near a SDDS. In fact having handled a couple of Bremonts and the Goodwood Festival of Speed this year, I must be honest but they do nothing for me at all. Very anonymous IMO.

Being that I have not handled either my opinion on the two is pretty moot anyways, but I guess my point was that the Bremont has alot of cues that reminded me of the DSSD, and the 5K tag in that light seemed pretty reasonable.

Hey guys, me again.

I was talking with one of my friends about the watch I am going to get next year and he suggested this:

Image

What do you guys think? How does the IWC pilot chrono compare to the Navi?

Thanks,
Alex

Beautiful watch, one of the coolest IWC's in my opinion. I think the Navi would work better as a dress watch while the IWC is more of a casual watch to me. I'd happily take either one though. If you like this one have you looked at the Spitfire chrono, basically the same damn thing but with a silver dial, also very nice.

Yup, I've also looked at the silver dial Spitfire. Sure would look nice on a brown croc leather.

I am actually looking for something that goes better with a suit. That is why I changed my mind from the IWC AT to the Navi. So in this case, the Navi would still be considered dressier than the pilot chrono?

That's just my opinion and I've never owned either of them, I have spent way too much time ogling them at AD's though. To me the Navi just seems like more of a suit watch while the IWC pilot seems to be more of a jeans and t-shirt type watch, but hell, I'm sure it could hold it's own in a suit as well.

using a more traditional view both of these are still sport watches, albeit with dressy aspects. If you are looking for a true dress watch IMO you would want non-chrono, thin crocco strap, and basic dial.

That being said that isnt much fun now is it?..... either of these watches fit the bill of a nice sport/dress hybrid. Which I think can be much more useful than a straight dress piece.

My Navi goes from button down and a blazer to jeans and a flannel very easily, and I bet that IWC would do the same

Giggity giggity!

I also agree that the Bremont can't even be mentioned in the same paragraph as a DSSD. But it's a nice looking watch, not for me tho.

I think I prefer the 3717 pilot over the Port Chrono....not a huge fan of the vertical chrono layout....similar problem I had with my yacht club.

RJRJRJ, roman4405 I agree with you guys Thing is that model doesnt have date display...something which I use a fair bit. Unfortunately the Portuguese with date is way more expensive.
