They're in the business to sell watches, I agree with Serge, if they could make it right now, they would.

I haven't visited in the last couple of days but I can almost guarantee the folks over at TRF are bummed. There were excited rumors of a coke or pepsi, but not this. I think Rolex folks badly want a ceramic coke or pepsi, and I suspect they'll keep waiting. The blue/black might pick up some people who are not hardcore GMT people, and a few who are willing to try the more muted concept, but there's a reason the old cokes and pepsis are in demand.

Basel, schmazel--here's one I tried on last week (with a fresher bezel sitting on top) and the one I owned. With all the sub and DJ copycats out there, these might be the most unmistakable Rolexes.

I have to admit, I am totally underwhelmed. Pity really.

You would think they would have made an effort. Even the GMT, although the most attractive in the Basil set here, is not that interesting.

Oh well. Lets see what Breitling have to offer, other than the anticipated Emeregncy 2.

(Sorry, not into Rolexes, can someone explain the 'cokes' and 'pepsis' allusions?)

It comes from the colours of the bezel on certain GMT models and the colour of the drinks cans - blue and red, Pepsi, etc.

I agree with what Scott said.

Anyone tried looking for a good late-serial coke or pepsi 16710 lately? Way fewer of them on the forums than there used to be, and those that are listed seem to be at fairly high prices.

After thinking for a while, I am a bit disappointed by this GMT. I don't hate it, but it could have been something that would have had me kicking down the door of my local AD to get on a waiting list. And it isn't.

Yes that! Could not have said it better.

My attention is now turned to the Tudor offerings, particularly since I keep reading that they will be back in the US market within the year. Ablogtowatch had a ceramic chrono for 4800 chf posted. I'd move pics over but photobucket is the edge of my expertise.

Whow... What was that?!? Just walked into Zurichs largest Rolex AD who also happens to operate the boutique (didn't walk into the boutique though but into the AD). So I'm there asking about the green Sub which I'm still contemplating as a purchase in the near future... And there the guy tells me... After the obvious comment about a price increase which according to him is just around the corner (this talk is slowly becoming the Nigerian lawyer scam of the Rolex world... ), he told me there was a new Sub in black and blue coming which had been announced in Basel... Really, a Sub in black and blue... Which would just so happen to look exactly like the new GMT with GMT probably written across the dial??? Gotta love these AD salespeople... Wonder what they get paid. Whatever it is, its too much. If I did my job in such negligent a fashion I'd get sued every god given day... rant over.

Disclaimer: I'd like to spare the boutique from this rather disappointed comment that is, the manager there is a friend who really knows his way around his Rolexes.
