Besides the potential for my own discomfort, I'd be afraid of rolling over and knocking my wife out.

:yeahthat To me wearing a watch to bed would be like going to bed with a medieval mace strapped to your arm! The chances of self-injury are quite high, and that's discounting the uncomfortableness factor. In fact, one of my mates once somehow cut his face wearing a Breitling to bed. Those rider tabs can be nasty little blighters!

What purpose does it serve to wear your watch to bed?? Would you wear your best dress shoes to bed? Or your best suit to bed? NO...Not until I'm ready to go 6 feet under will I ever wear a watch to sleep.

I've also heard some people in the past say genius things such as.."i spent 4k + on a watch I should be able to shower with it on." WHY? I can wear my watch 10,000 feet under water and I'd still never shower with it on..there's no purpose.

I swear I think some people would have relations with their watches if they could.

What if you want to know what time it is in the shower? Or at night, when you wake up thinking about your next watch?

You fellows must have quite the active bed life. All this talk of injury, discomfort and knocking the wife out really surprises me. I can surely understand why you wouldn't want to wear the big Ling to bed if you thrash about, but for me at least, I think I remain relatively calm and for the most part quite the stationary non-flailing object in bed. I've been wearing a watch to bed each and every night of my life for at least 30 years and have yet to cause injury to myself, the watch or others. :D

@mfserge: I'm not sure there is a specific purpose of wearing a watch to bed but it is nice to have on when I do get up at night and nice to have on when I simply wake up to glance at the time. But for the most part I guess it's just a matter of comfort to me. I'm so used to wearing a watch that when I take it off it feels strange and almost uncomfortable to me. It's just a matter of habit and as long as I'm not hurting me or my wife and not beating the watch up I think it's OK. :) Really - I guess for me the question would be, why would I not wear it to bed since I wear it often enough that it almost seems a part of me and I rarely even realize I have it on?

I don't understand the comparison. I don't feel like I would ruin or remotely harm ANY of my timepieces in any way if I wear my watch to bed. I don't wear my watch to bed most nights, but it's much easier to check my watch to see what time it is when I am in bed than it is to have to roll over and move an alarm clock. I especially like to wear my watch to bed when I'm traveling and/or in different time zones. Checking my watch with a soft lume in the middle of the night is much easier on the eyes than looking at a bright alarm clock in a hotel room.

I can totally understand your point, thanks for clarifying. Turning your head to look at an alarm clock is very difficult thing to do, especially in the middle of the night. God forbid you may possibly strain a neck muscle, it's much easier to look at your wrist. I totally get it now!

Well, at the ripe age of 43, and even with a regular workout routine, yes, sometimes I do strain a muscle doing the most mundane things. I'm somewhat ADD and a light source in a room when I am trying to sleep can be very distracting - even that tiny red or green power light on a television. Consequently, I am very picky about what type of alarm clock I use as I am very sensitive to the light. So I probably should have clarified that for me personally, I prefer a very soft lume in the middle of the night on my wrist vs. having to take a squint at an alarm clock which I would find most annoying even on its dimmest setting. I haven't owned an alarm clock in about 5 or six years. I typically use the alarm on my phone and glance at my watch on the night stand or on my wrist if I want to know what time it is in the middle of the night.

TMI?

It seems as though this thread has evolved into a justification. I for one cannot imagine not doing anything I want with my watch or watches up to and including mixing concrete and then having to justify the function of my watch to anyone on this forum or anywhere else.

Also, after seeing some forum members watches after "strap removal" damage, I can understand how the quietness of night or the hardness of water could cause non intentional damage.

A question was asked and then answered.
