I didn't want to sound like a watch snob so I didn't say anything about that :P

I've seen the Top Gun Double Chrono and Big Pilot side by side at my AD and it's VERY CLOSE in my opinion. I'm not a fan of black steel or DLC but this Ceramic IWC is just insane!! and I don't mind the Top Gun affiliation because if you're a Pilot watch why not affiliate yourself with the world's finest Pilot School?...and it happens to be one of my favorite movies.

You're on the Highway to the Danger Zone with that comment

I saw both of them while I was in Vegas, I'm not saying anything bad about the Top Gun, I just like the BP better. If you wanted to give me either of them I wouldn't turn it down. The Top Gun really is an awesome watch, the BP is more of an iconic watch IMHO. I'm not too into black cases either but that Top Gun really pulls it off. Man I want a new watch now :(

Honestly, I don't know all that much about them either, but their watches were based off of marine chronometers made by some English dude, Arnold, in 1764. And if you can believe their website they've been around since then. I think that they're owned by the same company that owns Graham though, but I'm not really sure.

Considering UN's Marine series is based off of their Marine Chronometer I'd guess that's why they look similar. I think the White Ensign is discontinued anyway. The rest of their collection is just way too expensive.

Arnold & Son are actually a fairly new company who have created a somewhat tenuous link (IMO) to the English watchmaker John Arnold. The modern company is actually not related in any way to the original firm created by John Arnold, and as Roman said, they are part of the British Masters stable, who alsoo make Graham watches. That said, they make some nice pieces and the White Ensign with the manual wind movement and the huge power reserve is a great looking watch. I contacted them once to try to find out more about the movement in the White Ensign as some people were claiming it was a full in-house, however Arnold & Son apparently couldn't be bothered to send me a reply. That and their dubious attempts to create a history by linking themselves to John Arnold concerns me a bit and I'm not sure if I'd pay serious money for one. But as I say the White Ensign is a very nice looking watch.

After I posted that I tried finding out more about them and I kind of figured that was what was going on. The White Ensign is a great looking watch and I thought that I read somewhere that it was an in-house movement, but they don't even show it on the web-site anymore. Oh well, I'll have to find something else to spend my money on, I think I need a 312 :?

Can never convince myself to pay the premium for a Breitling Blackbird, so could I consider that a kind of grail.

One legitimate and two grails that are a little bit of a stretch right now. Beautiful timepieces though and each unique in their own way.
