Thanks, Altair!
I am glad to hear from the owner of a Railmaster. I still cannot believe that the one I tried on is the mid-size 36mm model. It wears a bit larger than that I feel. That small watch really gave me a stir. After wearing the Seawolf at 45mm every day, I was surprised how that Railmaster appealed to me!
Another thing that I really like, is that it has the simplicity of my much liked Panerai 210. I had to ask myself if I was compromising or did I really like the Railmaster, and after trying it on many times, I really do like it. The smallness gives it a very retro feel as well.
Cheers,
Carl

Hey Steve!
Thanks for your reply. I was thinking about it today, and wondering why the change of heart as well. That is really what it is: my heart is just not with the Breitlings any more. Maybe after almost 20 years of having nothing but Breitling on my wrist, it is time for a switch. I certainly see the beauty in them still, but they seem to have stopped exciting me. My Blacksteel will be on it's way on Monday to a new owner, and the Steelfish already is being worn by someone in New York. Kind of weird, because I seem to be looking at smaller watches now as well.
There is a guy at one of our local Omega AD's, where I am going tomorrow, who sounds like he is interested in buying my Seawolf. Then next week I should be able to pick up my new Omega, and thus starts a new chapter. The Aqua Terra is my 60 year birthday present to myself, so it is pretty special. The way I figure it, I'll probably be dead in 20 years anyway, so if my Omega pleases me for as long as the Breitlings did, then I shall be a happy man! If by chance I am in excellent health at 80 as I am now, maybe I'll try something new again!
Cheers,
Carl

The Aqua Terra is certainly a gorgeous watch. It has an elegant simplicity about it that few other designs can match (IMHO this kind of simple-yet-stunning design is the forte of Omega). One of my favorite quotes is by Antoine de Saint-Exupery: "Perfection is achieved not when there is nothing left to add, but when there is nothing left to take away." If he had designed a watch, it would have looked like the Aqua Terra (and probably not quite like the St. Exupery LE from IWC ;) )

I don't intend to ever be out of touch with you guys! I saw a yellow dial Seawolf like yours at the mall today. There was a grey one as well, both on PRO II bracelets. I can't help thinking that would have been my better choice. That model was around for a good few years, and I don't understand why I didn't get it then. On the other hand, the Omega Railmaster has been around even longer - since 1957 - and has really changed very little, at least in appearance, so I ask myself why am I just starting to love the thing all of a sudden!?
Cheers,
Carl

Yes, it seems ages to me, too! It's mainly because of this PayPal thing. I decided to accept payment for my Steelfish and Blacksteel by PayPal. When the money was in the buyer's bank account, it took a whole week to be transferred into PayPal and my account. I got the money in my PayPal account on Friday (it's now Sunday), and the estimated time for it to be transferred into my bank account is 5-6 business days! I might just as well have had a personal cheque sent to me by regular post, then deposit it, and wait for the bank to clear it. Basically, from one bank account to another via PayPal, you can count on 2 weeks. With the fees they charge, I find it quite unacceptable. Maybe I have not had enough experience with them, though, and am missing something? With the fees they charge, and the Fedex air shipment fees, I could almost have bought a cheep ticket and flown to New York to deliver the watches in person.
The very positive thing about the whole selling experience, is the two people who I sold the watches to. Especially dbniner in Buffalo. The positive kind of experience to build a friendship on. I think he is just as excited to get the Blacksteel, as I am to get the Omega on my wrist.
Anyway, enough of my rant about PayPal. My AD is holding the watch for me until I get the funds in my bank account. They are great about that. On the other hand, within the last year I have purchased 3 watches and spent over 10 grand, so that should count for something. In this case, I find it's a great advantage to building a relationship with a good AD. They will really help you out,no questions asked. So I don't have any worries about losing the new watch. I would like to have it on my wrist, though!
How are things with your Hour Vision? Does the Seawolf get much wrist time now? I did get my leather strap from Vintagerstaps in California. It looks even nicer than I imagined. Will post some pics. I managed to fit the brushed Breitling tang buckle on it, and it does look good.
Cheers,
Carl

It happens some times when you´ve been together for a long time.
The old flame dies and you long for something new and exciting.
So now your old companion has hurt their feelings and Breitlings stopped talking to you.

Haha yes the breitling does still get alot of wrist time :lingsrock: although the omega is now probably worn more  , i just cant help but were it all the time for work, partly because the seawolf doesn't fit under the cuffs on some my shirts  im starting to feel a little bad for my tag heuer as it gets barley any wrist time now unless im doing something messy and plus i only have a single watch winder so if im away for a day or two one of the watches have to die

cant wait to see the pictures!

Cheers

Oh I think dbniner is going to be over the moon! I have seen Carl's watches in person and he is like me, babies them, the black steel is like brand new from what I saw of it and Carl just an all round great guy, can't wait to see his Omegas, heck his actions have even had me looking father a'feild! Oh how I would love a springdrive!

Well, I think that a man has to have 3 watches: one for work on week-days, one for week-ends and holidays and one for evening occasions wear w/suits, or tux.
For me -as a chronograph addict - these watches are:

Breitling CSO (very good wr, day-date) for holidays
Breitling CC (still good wr, date, wearable size and weight) for working days
PP Calatrava 3998 for occasions.

Remarks: according to my opinion Breitling does not produce today THAT fine, elegant watch that PP does (I mean now mainly design and not caliber issues) and PP does not produce THAT usable, chunky pieces for everyday wear and tear. So this 3 watches make me a perfect "line". All my other watches can be sold any time with easy heart. (Of course I do not sell them, but if I'd have to have a few grand more than this would happen.) But sometimes I make excursions and wear for example my Omega De Ville Chrono HW Lemania which is also exactly 36 mm like the Railmaster you've mentioned - and love that watch. (While I'm typing now I'm wearing my Aviastar... 8) )

So if you'd happen to need advice (I don't think really so) I'd say that it's good to work on having a watch line like that (regarding functions). The AT (OR the Rail-master) could make you a perfect watch for everyday and evening occasions (so IMHO they share a lot of common functions and can be superfluous to own both) and the Ling can remain your week-end watch. Or if you want to stay within one brand (I'd love to do it, but regarding the holes in Lings and PP-s range I could not), you can shift your Ling for a Planet Ocean 42 mm OR get the very, very, very beautiful Suerocean Heritage 38 mm and keep the Avenger. (NB if you look at the end links of the new Chronomat B01 bracelet you'll see that it can be used for any watch. I wouldn't be surprised if all the Pilots would come this way in a few years time and than you can upgrade your SOH with that. Today I'd wear the SOH on a black waterproof Hirsch croco (both blue or black dial versions).
Either way you'll have two watches that cover every need. Or keep the Avenger and choose one from the two Omegas mentioned (I'd go for the AT of the two for inner value reasons - caliber 8500) if you allow yourself two watches only.
Of course my two cents only. Other opinions may differ greatly. Anyway you have a nice hobby and need to follow your own feelings only that makes you comfort.
Enjoy! And of course let us know about your decisions! Regards: Robertus

Hey Robertus,
I feel pretty much the same as you do on this one. At the moment, I have two, but maybe in a year or so will have a third one. I was all prepared to sell the Seawolf, then get a Railmaster. However, I quickly realize that the Seawolf is my perfect watch for work. And it still is a stunning looking watch.
The new Aqua Terra is, to me, almost two watches in one. I wear mostly casual clothing, and it does not look out of place. I don't have a suit or a tux, but it would look elegant with either of those. On the more dressier occasions, I have no hesitation in feeling very comfortable wearing it.
As I said to someone just today: The Aqua Terra is undoubtedly the most beautiful object that I have ever owned.
Unlike you, I am not really a chronograph person. I still love the Panerai Basic models, especially the Radiomir 210. Perhaps one day, I will be able to find a suitable AD, then I will feel comfortable owning one.
For now, the Omega Aqua Terra and Breitling Seawolf fill my needs perfectly.
Cheers
Carl
