Next time you plan a watch trip let me know. I might be able to make it over from the flat lands of Arizona. The U-Boat either does it for you or you move on, so many other watches out there.

@Sherlock - I've already PM'd you the info, but just in case anyone else is interested, the shop selling U-Boats in Bournemouth on the southcoast of the UK is called Michael Matthews the Jewellers -

Has anyone got one? What sort of price are they? I have just found them i think they look really cool.
U-Boat Watches
Seems to be only one AD in the UK.

All of you guys out there with King Kong arms and watches the size
of dinner plates (52mm? Come on!)...What's are you going to do when
the universe stops expanding and starts shrinking, and watches once
again return to mortal proportions? :? It's going to happen, you know.
All of those gigantic timepieces gathering dust in drawers the world over.
Collector's pieces or garage sale fodder? Time will tell.

You're probably right in terms of U-Boats Steve....... hence why, after a bit more research, I've discounted the idea of one myself. They are possibly a little too much of a "fashion" watch than something that will stand the test of time to become a true classic. Still, if you like 'em, go buy 'em I say!

Thanks for the link D8, most helpful, i think will take the mrs for a weekend trip to the coast and just "happen" across the shop  as i've yet to see one in the flesh, it might still be too big for my King Kong arms, PMSL. Drax, are you trying to infer that i'm some knuckle dragging ape!! Have we met?

I'm glad we've got an ocean between us -- that goes for Driver, too.
Gentlemen, I was simply trying to take a trend to its logical, if absurd,
conclusion. Buy all means, strap a 52mm watch to your wrist if it gives
you pleasure. :) And no, I would never imply (not infer  ) that you
are a knuckle-dragging ape -- just that you possess truly masculine
wrists. :?

Sherlock,

First, I must ask you, Are you truly a Sherlockian, a devotee of the Great
Detective? (Oh, I hope so!) Or is Sherlock just a name you latched onto because
you thought it would be kind of cool ( )? I've been a
follower of Holmes for 50 years (Yes, I am ancient!) and to find a
Holmsian who also loves watches would be too good to be true, I'm
afraid. :(

Let me know where you stand, okay? It could be (As Bogey said in "Casablance")
"the beginning of a beautiful friendship."

Steve, I'm sorry to disappoint but I'm not a devotee of the Great Detective?
It is my nick name that I've had for about 16 years now because my surname is, yes you've guessed it, Holmes so it was only natural I was called Sherlock
I hope this has not been too much of a let down, and we can still be friends :(
I was just wondering about your login name, is it your surname or do you have a penchant for Bond?

Be glad you don't live out this way then. Holmes is said alot around certain communities close to the border

You need to use that Cheech and Chong voice when doing it though: "Eyyy whad-dup Holmes!?"

You guessed it, Sherlock. I've been a Bond nut almost as long as long
as I've dug Mr. Holmes (the other Mr. Holmes :)). Don't ask me why I
chose Drax as my nom de plume. I guess because he was such a nifty
bad guy (and he wore a "plain gold Patek Philippe" ) Actually I was
thinking of using Professor Moriarty but it takes too long to type it out. :?
I'm sure we can be friends even if (sigh) you're not a fan of your
namesake.
