Speedy for me any day. I wish I still had one.

I don't think this is a mismatch though, just not an apples vs apples comparison. The Oyster is a great watch but not my style.

I'd love to be contrarian on this... but Speedy. Better size, goes with casual and semi formal and has a chrono.

this seems to be the most unanimous "this or that" ever.

I sense an idea bubbling up in the back of my head... ;)

To be honest, I have thought about a pre moon often enough... Ah, some day...

Love the pic of the fresh Speedy and the ribbon-wrapped bag. Congrats.

I'm not big on the speedy. The chronograph is too busy to me. I like simplicity. I'm on the oyster side of the fence.

It's clearly too late to chime in on this, as the purchase has already been made. There were two issues people brought up regarding the Speedy as a daily wearer- the lack of date (which irritates me too) and the hexalite crystal. I'm no Speedy expert, but I thought there were versions that have the date and a sapphire crystal. I know these aren't the carbon copy of the one worn on the moon, but they may be more fitting of a daily beater.

Regardless, you can't go wrong with the original Speedy. Nice pickup. I'd definitely choose this over the Rollie.

The problem is that the versions with dates and sapphire don't have that dial... They have similar dials... But with entirely different proportions. The new 9300 one has its subdials so far to the sides they eat into the hour markers and leave huge amounts of empty space in the center and the Frédéric Piguet movement has its subdials all lost and crinkled in the center of the dial with way too much space around them.

None of them have that excellent balance the speedie pro has. I had all four, the regular pro, the sapphire sandwich, the new inhouse one and the FP one in front of me yesterday and although I was tempted by the 9300 movement... I couldn't help but go for the plain vanilla speedie pro. After all, that dial is what one looks at most, and it is, to me, perfect.
