An amazing gesture. This story about an analog watch and with the help of digital technology...

They can co-exist harmoniously. :lingsrock:

Wonderful piece!!

Did you know the history of the watch before acquiring or did you research after ?

What great history

I did some research prior to the purchase and a little more in depth research this week. The person I bought it off got it from a local jeweler/watch tinkerer so he received no history with it. Upon doing some research on the watch I found the original owner had five sons and I think one of them might live fairly close to me so I'm going to try and contact him and see what they can tell me about the watch. Owner passed away in 2001 and it seems unusual to me that one of the five sons wouldn't have kept the watch if given the option. If the family lost track of it and want it back to keep in the family, I would have no problem with returning it.

Outstanding.. That's a great story Paul. I worked for Pres. Bush during his presidency, and he is a truly wonderful man. I got a kick out of the ad and the original price too. Thanks for posting,

Don

Paul, you are one classy guy!

Couldn't say it better myself. Wonderful gesture! If you hadn't been interested in that watch, it may never have gotten back to it's family.

Thanks for sharing that great story. Nice history presentation as well!

I have seen a few Universal Geneve watches around. They made some great pieces. There is a great pre owned one at a shop here, a 14k gold kind of tank style, in mint condition, to name just one.

Well, keep looking lots of military watches around. Soon you will find a keeper, I'm sure!

Cheers,
Carl

Imagine how the family must feel to get something so closely tied to their Dad back. That's a grand gesture. I admire you for that Paul.
