Omega are really making all the right noises these days, and IMO they have opened up a pretty significant gap with Breitling who historically were always pretty much like-for-like competitors.

Very true. If I look through the Omega catalogue there are numerous watches that I like and quite a few that I love (I'm thinking about a Seamaster GMT / Chrono Diver) which just can't be said for the current B lineup.

I had some time to kill in Singapore airport recently and wandered thru the watch stores. I have to admit that I spent about twice as long in the Omega section as the Breitling. Mind you, if my plane hasn't left I'd still be in the JLC section. :)

Enjoy both of those pieces in great health! The way the light radiates on that blue dial is superb.

and the 8500 is deadly accurate and AFAIK it's a realiable beast (certainly my Ploprof is), with some of the nicest decorative finishing on the movement that you'll see in that price range.

:yeahthat I haven't done an official timed test in a long while, but my AT 8500 (41.5mm) is ALWAYS on the same minute as my cell. The same very minimally scientific test run on my Breitling results in two minutes fast roughly once a week... I know I should get it regulated, but it was produced in 2008 and I'm just going to wait for an overhaul...

Beautiful watch! I have been looking at the Aqua Terra (41.5 mm) myself. It's truly stunning in person. Wear in good health!
