I am going to say no because I just love the BEB on bracelet. I really want to get my hands on one soon

Aside from the image Rolex projects (status symbol, etc.) money wise I'm going to go against the grain and say it's a good trade. That Yachtmaster is a nice hefty watch. I'm also assuming that the Yacht is pre-owned, and as YM's don't hold their second hand value too well, you're not going to take a super hit on depreciation as the first owner probably did. That will only come into play if you decide to sell it again.

I'm not a super Rolex fan boy but my respect has grown for them. Overall you're probably getting a bit better end of the deal. I would probably think though BB might be a bit more difficult to replace as I haven't seen them for sale too often, but the Steelfish is still pretty common.

But of course you gotta like the Yachtmaster first. If it sings to you, then why not...

I say keep the 2 Breitlings. Having 2 nice watches offers you the versatility to switch it up. And that BEB bracelet is one of a kind (I have it too and love it!!). The Rolex looks really nice as well, but I couldn't do the trade......

The YM does nothing for me so an easy no.

IMO it has to be a great watch to swap 2 watches for 1.

I love Rolex, but I wouldn't do the trade. You have 2 of the best discontinued Breitlings out there...hold onto them and save for the Rolex.

The fact that they quit making the SF, I would say hold on to it.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the advice. It's funny, I've never really understood why people post these "What should i do?" threads. I usually think "Make up your own bloody mind!". But it actually does help you to know your own mind.

Driver's comment that the YM must be one of my favourites really did get me thinking. This was more of an opportunity thing. Here in Australia the pool of watches is much smaller than U.S/ U.K/ Europe (unless you're happy to pay close to 20% import tax) so you tend to jump on opportunities when they arise and maybe end up "settling".

I've realised after some reflection that that's what i'd be doing here. I like the YM but i really love a couple of other Rolexes much more. If it was a white face Milguass I'd go for it. This thread has helped me to make up my mind to wait. So thanks everyone. This has really been a helpful process for me. The BB and SOSF are safe.

Sorry, busy day, I was late to the party.

They just struck me as such different pieces. The BB and SF are so much thicker, bigger watches than the YM. The YM is so much more formal (though still sporty) than the BB or SF. This looked to me really like an issue of how you used your watch. If you're wearing a dress shirt most days, I would have said Rolex. If you're a more casual wearer, the size and variety of the Breitlings is great.

I loved my YM, only got rid of it for my AP, and with the possible exception of a white dialed Daytona my favorite Rolex. The dial is silver, though metallic looking ( it is platinum) and nowhere near white. The bezel is gorgeous. The bracelet/ watch head combo were better than any Rolex I have worn, though the new bracelet is better. I do miss it. That said, I suspect that even in a more limited market, YMs are easier to come by than BEBs, which (I know, sacrilege) is my favorite Blackbird. A big factor in my deciding to trade my YM for the AP was the fact that I can find another YM a whole lot easier than I could an AP 15202.

A REAL tough choice you had, but so long as you still love your BEB in particular, I'd agree it was the right one.

Sounds like you made a good decision then. I was also in the no basket primarily because I love the BB and don't love the rolex; the SF is a classic too. Plus trading two watches for one doesn't necessarily make sense unless it's a real step up in quality, which I didn't necessarily see here.

Nope. I'm sorry. Basically not a big fan of Rolex except for maybe the Sea Dweller Deep Sea which is larger then their 40mm models. But I wouldn't ever trade one nor TWO Breitlings for a Rolex. Or a IWC. Or something else for that matter. But I'm not the most objective guy in the world either.

I bet the responses would be the complete opposite if the question was posted on a Rolex forum.

Something else to consider: the YM just got an updated bracelet and clasp this year, with the solid endpieces and Easylink extension. The one being traded has the older bracelet and "tin foil" clasp. Personally, I'd want the newer model, and wouldn't be willing to trade two classic Breitlings for anything less than that. If we were talking about the updated model, that would be a trickier call, since I really like the YM - but we're not, so I'm not going to wrack my brain over it.
