it depends a lot on the store and the market and the products. is the sales girl at jareds going to make 6 figures? probably not, SOME of them do, probably the top 10% and average is closer to 56-60. but in a HIGH end store, they AVERAGE over 100, with top performers in the 250 range. keep in mind, a top performer sells in the 3 to 4 million dollar per year area. thats a lot of money in sales, and the bulk of that will be jewelry, where there is more profit.

go down to your local mercedes dealer. i GUARANTEE the top salesman there makes well into the 6 figures, and the top guy at toyota probably does too. if you are good at what you do, you will get paid for it, and paid well, what you sell doesnt matter.

Shit, I need to go to Jareds and apply for a job. Last time I was there I had to explain pretty much everything about the Speedy I was looking at to the saleswoman. Plus then I could get my wife a discount on all that Pandora crap.

Believe it or not those pandora salespeople make well into 6 figures.

I'm betting that you all haven't seen his YouTube-channel. If you had then these posts wouldn't be such a surprise.

Oh goodness - we all know Archie and his YouTube channel. He was a member, now banned. There is one where he spends a great deal of time complaining about "this toady turd Sharkman.". Great stuff.

Okay. It isn't the first one though. Last time there was a 2-year-bump about ordering boxes from Breitling. Which could've been relevant but it wasn't.

I have to post a reply to this since I am a store employee and got worked up reading some of the comments. I work for a fairly large jewelry retailer and am pretty young, but own every watch and piece of jewelry I wear to work. At my particular company it is actually prohibited to wear anything that is not yours actually. While we do get a discount (usually around 30%), a $20-30k watch still costs a lot of money. I think it is also presumptuous to automatically assume you are making more than the individual helping you. I personally am very successful and make six figures. Most associates that are successful and working in luxury retail make a very comfortable living. I have some friends that work at neiman Marcus and Nordstrom (again top associates in their stores) each making over $150k a year. I also have several friends within the company that are also quite successful that make between $100-$250k. While we are certainly on the service side, we are selling luxury products that cost as much as sometimes a home. I can't understand why people always look down on those who work in retail like t is some kind of dead end job. I actually left my job in finance to return to the luxury goods industry because I make more money with infinitely less stress in my life.

So to answer your question as an associate working for an authorized breitling dealer- we wear nice watches because we can afford to buy them.

im sure like anything else. it depends on where, what and when.

just like car salesman. im sure some can make a lot of money. imho it still doesnt compete with a decent "career". i can almost bet for the standard car salesman, sales associate etc. even if they make six figures. that doesnt include awesome health insurance, 401k, retirement pension plan, etc etc.

I think a decent career is one you're happy doing, period.

The average sales person does not make as much as the average professional. Thankfully, there are exceptions to this.
