Boogie, would you consider your daily a beater?

When I go to the pool or do yard work I don't even wear a watch. Some days at work I don't wear one either. I don't NEED to have a watch on so I prefer not to have a cheap watch. I consider my beater my Colt, but maybe I am misunderstanding the term.

hey justin...no i dont consider my daily a beater. but then again i dont really have a daily. Sometimes i go days without wearing a watch. but in my case i own a pitbull and she plays pretty rough so i try not to wear the watch around her. So when i do strap on the watch im usually hanging out doing nothing or shes in her crate for down time.

Yeah, I have 2 pups who like to play rough with the teeth on the forearm, wouldn't want the watch in thier mouth now that I think of it.

I've got a bunch of very excitable Alaskan Malamutes and I always wear a watch around them - never had any problems.

My male likes to put his mouth around my wrist/forearm as some kind of weird affectionate thing when he sees me after some random time when I presume he thinks it's been a while since he saw me last. My female just licks. It's never been a problem, but after reading Boggie's post, I thought it might be a bad combination!

Is that paint splattered all over the PO?

Thankfully not RJ.

I'd just been rubbing down a doorframe.

It was only dust. It looks worse than it is.

Holy crap, Ricardo, the condition of that Submariner has floored me! I'm not too fond of vintage watches usually because some look really beaten, but that thing is PERFECT. I don't know where you got it from or if you're the original owner, but damn. :wowzers

Thank You Ms Anez.

I'm slightly perturbed that you would think I was the original owner. That would put me in my mid 60's! This vintage Submariner is in mint condition because the person I bought it from 6 months ago had just had it professionally serviced and valleted by a Rolex trained technician.

Some interesting opinions here Guys and Gals. Thanks.

I can only conclude that I am a bit of a rogue in this instance.

It hasn't always been that way though. My first high end watch was a Rolex Sub No-date. I babied that so much that the buyer thought that this seven year old example was less than a yearr old when he saw it.

Interesting topic, I have worn my 1680 submariner (I am the original owner, it was purchased in 1975) as my everyday watch for 35 years, even at my shop where I sometimes will run a mill or a lathe. Every nick, scratch and mark on it I made, and for me, that becomes part of the charm of it.

After 35 years I wouldn't likely think twice about it either. Just like a new anything. Once you get a couple scratches on it, meh!
