The problem that I have with the 3717 is that wears SO small. Its a 42, but it feels smaller than my 40mm GMT II.. I tried out a 3717 for a while and it kind of killed me! I wish I would've just saved the time and made the move on the 3789.

Dammit...
I am interested in buying one, but AD in my country does not have one in the store for me to try.
So you are saying it has too small wrist apperence :( ?

Yeah, the 3789 was discontinued a while ago. You can still find them, but not brand new from an AD unless you're really lucky and find a NOS one.

Must say I disagree slightly about the 3717 wearing small, but hey, everyone's perception is his or her own. I was wearing a 3717 when I bought my GMT IIc, and I thought the Rolex looked smaller on the wrist (shinier though). The 3717 is also fairly chunky, there are quite a few IWC enthusiasts who complain about it being too big for them and prefer the older 39mm model.

My AD had a brand new 3789 Top Gun single chrono today. I tried it on and was totally disappointed with, it wore smaller than my 40mm GMT. I like the look of this watch but I'll never buy it because it felt extremely small for a 44mm.

So I had thought that i would put the idea of getting a top gun double chrono away...and that's probably because i could never find it....but i finally got the chance to try it on today...and i was blown away...it wears so much bigger and nicer than the 3789 single chrono.

I asked for the price and was able to negotiate down to $10500...told him ill pay $10000 and he said he has to call his manager or whatever...

my question is....is $10000 for this watch a good deal?

In the UK, that'd be a great price for the double chrono (rattrapante) Top Gun. Dunno what it's like Stateside though.

I've always loved this watch in every way, with just one exception - I just can't help thinking that for the kind of cash they want for it (RRP-wise) then it should have an in-house movement. That's a show-stopper for me, but if you don't mind, then I say go for it!

I actually don't mind that it's not in-house....

My friend has the single chrono...i tried it on the other day and it just looked so small and a bit "toy-ish"...so i thought this one will be the same...but it's not, it's big and has a great presence on the wrist...

So yeah i definitely like everything about this watch...im surprised it's not so popular though...i rarely read about it on this forum

Well, it's quite a lot of money, and some people hate the Top Gun logo on the side and on the caseback. Personally I really like those features on it.

I think Govberg has one for sale right now. Not sure if this is a good price.
