I know next to nothing about watches and as such have no real clue about this. What I will say though, is that my Herc makes me feel good when I'm wearing it - as such, to me, that's the 'best'.

I’m not a purist; I place design and aesthetics above movement. As long as the movement is within COSC and on the fast side, I’m satisfied. (Below are one man’s opinions, not my intention to offend)…..

JLC – Innovative designs, and an incredible array of complications. Several stunning pieces.

Breitling – Love the look, feel, and size of most….I’m happy every time I look at mine.

Omega – Very average. The PO has a striking presence but that’s about it. A lot of their pieces are nicer in pictures than in person (Speedmaster in particular).

Rolex – The “cheese pizza” of luxury watches. Boring, bland, designs never change. I understand it’s a classic look, but they are not for me at all.

The question should have included IWC and Panerai so I will give my humble opinion on the 6 brands:

1) IWC - Some of there watches are unbelievably beautiful and in terms of a mans watch, Some of the Spitfires are simply outstanding, recent addition on the Yacht Club and Perpetual Calender just brilliant watches IMHO.

2) JLC - As some have said they have some watches and compilations which put them at the forefront, If I could afford one I would buy one, but theres only so much money to go around lol.

3) Breitling- As a mans watch, the Breitling is a winning watch for mine, the BO1 provides the inhouse movement, the Chronomats are Breitling DNA at there core, the avengers are bigger watches, some of the SuperOcean Heritage watches are really classy watches as are Navitimers etc etc.

4) Rolex- If you want a watch that says look at me Im a success then its Rolex, because everyone knows what it is and the brand is "the brand" for me they are bland and I prefer something abit different

5) Panerai- Im not a big fan, for some reason the look has never won me over, but I can see why it would be considered a great watch and a great watch for males.

6) Omega- Probably a little unjust but I find Omegas boring. Always have. One thing that hurts it is that many consider it wrongly to be in the same class as Seiko lol, anyway thats for people who dont know watches.

For me the holy grail is A Lange & Sohne- either Datograph Perpetual or Langematik Perpetual would be the ultimate watch - but thats just my humble opinion.
