I feel strange reading this -- am I the only one who wear my watch primarily as fashion accessory, and look at my iPhone if I needed the time???

Sacrilege! :wowzers

In fact, most people use watches as fashion pieces. Most cell phones are MUCH more accurate than mechanical watches as they are updated by a central databases that are linked to standard timekeepers.

That's the logic behind this series of watches:

No reason to have a "readable" version of the time when you cell is right at your side.

As for the OP, I find time to the minute pretty easy to discern. Get some glasses!

Not so sure I would agree with that. I know everyones needs and habits are different but I need to note and document the time at least 40 times per day. For me it would be far to difficult to have to pull a cell phone out of my pocket or off of my hip, flip it on and the put it away every time I needed to check the time. It's a real convenience for me to have the time on my wrist. The fashion aspect is just a bonus. :D

Of course this is available.

Ya, that's what I would think the average watch wearer would do. Also a reason I want a watch, and for the fashion statement :) I find it very annoying checking my cell phone all the time, especially in school when, uhh.... cell phones aren't exactly allowed on. Anyways, I check the time A LOT, so a watch may actually be of good use to me, but my parents don't see it that way, unfortunately.

I was just explaining the reasoning behind those watches. I don't agree with the philosophy at all.

It didn't take me long to get used to read a Tokyoflash watch. About the same time as to get used to my first 24-hour dial...

I don't see how anyone could read a Tokyoflash watch at all! The only one that is slightly clear is the one with writing explaining what each light meant.

Hi all,
Been around for a while, but only just joined. This topic made me laugh, it’s the reason I joined

Here's how it went for me:
Always been into watches, the more complicated the better. Saw a Breitling for the first time about 5 years ago, hooked. The first one I bought was a Montbrilliant Datora, it’s got a slide rule for god’s sake  You can work exchange rates out :D

Now jump forward 5 years and one eye test later. Reality bites, new eyes are required

What to do :?: 6 watches and 2 of em are unreadable at a glance without glasses. Upon reflection all the signs were there. Subconsciously I had already begun to adjust, my latest purchase is a SOHC 46  Glasses, who needs em :D

Welcome! This is EXACTLY my point! If I just need the time, any $40 Casio (or my cellphone) will do. But for WRIST ART that are my Lings... who cares if u can't read em! :uplaugh:
