Even with your picture quality (I still do not understand why you denegrate that, they look great to me, there is onyl one Ron afterall) the review is of the stunning and expert quality that only you could provide, Professor. Also appreciated the insite (pun intended) as to what is visible inthe display windows and how they move. You have convinced me. Present to myself will be a Zenith. Time to work over the wife!

Beautiful watch and great review! I have to read it a few times, before I can digest all the info!
Cheers,
Carl

good review roff! i skipped it the first time but tozzleozzle's open xxt got me excited so i've been doing some reading up. very cool to follow along with each part of the watch as you describe it.

i also don't like the fact that there's no lume and the WR is only 30 meters but the size/movement/finish is a real turn on...

The crown and pushers are relatively understated, the crown doesn’t screw down, this is clearly a dress watch, but it operates extremely smoothly. Unusually, the quick set date and time adjustment settings are reversed – one pull for time, two for date.

i find winding this movement (at least 4021) extremely tough, i really need to muscle up and get a grip (kinda course like the eta breitling movements). maybe i just got used to winding smoother handwound watches.

The strap is crocodile leather on a deployant clasp. Breitling straps spoil you so it’s easy to be disappointed by other brands. In truth, this is a very good strap, and I love the way that the end is shaped to the case to make it seem like a very high quality fit.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of the deployant. Zenith deployants are designed to work with the same straps as tang and so are not infinitely adjustable, they need to fit into one of the holes. My wrist is a little over 7 3/4 inches, and I have to have the strap set on the last hole but one. In this position the strap when closed only just fits into (not through) the second of the two keepers. That’s not a practical issue as it’s largely decorative, but a longer strap would be nice. Additionally, with the deployant closed the second keeper doesn’t easily fit snugly next to the first keeper as the deployant gets in the way. It’s a minor issue, and it’s design not build related, but it is a slight annoyance.

YES the zenith deployant is truly horrible, i hate the butterfly clasp and it really gets in the way of the 2nd keeper, causing unnecessary wear. sometimes it pushes the keeper way up so i end up only using the fixed keeper. croc strap is kinda stiff so it's hard moving the keeper as is.

great report/guide for anyone looking at a similar zenith. now that i own one i can appreciate so many points brought up here.

Great review. I love the fit and finish of it. I haven't really looked at many zeniths before. It was a treat, but I couldn't be happy without the lime. Love the display back though. Wear it in the best of health. :D
