IMHO, it isn't worth it beyond swiss snobbery. They aren't using the chronometer grade of 2824, and the Miyota is a well known and reliable movement. My guess is that the 2824 isn't dramatically better in real life usage.

Nice one - the way the finances are at the moment I think I would probably go for the cheaper option..... unless someone can convince me otherwise of course!

I agree dhalem. I was thinking the same and honestly if something that major goes wrong with the watch. Its a quick toss out the window. At the 500 dollar price point I usually dont really care what the inner workings of the watch are its more about asthetics for me.

When Michael Kobold started his company, he wanted it to be strictly an internet based company. He worked with , I believe, Sinn, in developing some of his ideas and learned alot from him. All the first watches were designed and built with the idea of being very tough tool watches. He tried to appeal , and still does, to military and police types. He succeeded at that and kept his company relatively small for some time. I considered one of those early watches, which at the time sold for under 1k, but never bought one. A few years later and he changed the pricing structure and for some reason, the watches became really overpriced, in my opinion. I don't know if the company is still strictly internet based. No way are these watches worth what they get for them. At one time they seemed priced to cheaply, but not anymore.

If the ETA models were in stock, i'd buy one. However seeing as they're not, I have no issues with buying the Miyota.
