Someone I know is itching to get his next watch. He has a gold AP, Patek and a Gold Rolex. (Yup, he is RICH!) He is 45 years old and has about $25 to $30K to spend. He is asking me for suggestions! Which brand and model do you guys think offers MOST value for this kind of money?! Help!!

I'm not sure that the words VALUE, WATCH, and $25-30K all work in the same sentence, but I guess it is relative to how much money you have (wish I had that problem to deal with). Based on what you say he already has...how about the following?

1. ALS Lange 1
2. GO PanoMaticReserve XL or PanoNavigator (with a deep discount could get within your range)
3. JLC Duometre a Chronographe (again with a good discount would get within your range)

Vintage. Start by looking at double red sea dwellers. That's what I'd do anyway.

Grin! Humpff!! is what I said first!! My experience in luxury brands doesn't extend beyond the Breitling-Panerai-Omega troika.

So, what complications should one expect for this price range?

I'd get a Patek 5712 or 5726 before the price increase in July

I'd consider the white gold IWC portuguese perpetual. Right in that range.

I'd take that Glashutte Chronometer in a heartbeat over the other two. It's less expensive and the finish and quality is just as superb. 2nd option would be the Lange...not a fan of that Breguet at all.

If I had $25g laying around right now I'd buy an AP Safari and use the rest for a Green Ceramic Rolex Sub.
