Hi all, I'm working on a custom strap idea that I will have made by one of the forum favorite strap makers. I lik ethe idea of a light coloured strap, lighter than my skin. I have very dark tanned skin so most of the "tan" and cognac straps almost blend with my skin. I have a ton of darker straps, so I though I'd go light on this one. The concern is that it can look feminine. What do you think of this design? It would be made out of Ivory Nubuck with dark chocolate or charcoal edging and stitching. I made the keeper with a dark patch as that is the area with the greatest contact with my drawing table when I'm working and gets soiled the fastest.

All opinions welcome, good or bad.

I kind of like it, just not sure I would want to pay what some of the strap makers ask for on the custom straps. I've stuck with all OEM straps so far for my 112. I've gone with the black gator, brown gator, and now the black riva. The gold nubuck (JV) strap is the next one that I'm hoping to get in a couple of months. If you've already got loads of dark straps, then I would say go for it. It would be cool to have a customized strap to wear.

I reckon it looks great, Mark. And I don't think it looks feminine at all.

Panerai's seem to work nicely on non-OEM (although personally I'm always a stickler for OEM as a rule).

Give ABP a shout - I reckon they'd knock that up for you no problem.

I really like that combo - it matches the watch well - and that's coming from me on a PAM!!!!

Thanks guys. Its fun trying to come up with something that I can't find pre-made.

I'm leaning towards this now... without the dark patches...

And while I like the first one, I'd probably agree with your "lean-age" and say that the all cream(?) strap is even nicer.

I actually prefer the contrast of the first one.

Not a fan of white straps myself, too fashionable and upscale for this bum. Though I definitely would not order it with a different color keeper, get it with the white floating keeper and stick a keeper from another strap on if you want to see how that works. That way you can have a way back.

Anyway, good work on the PS there, and pics when you do get it!

I like the idea Mark. A while back I came across a review of a Panatime strap review on ******.com which they put on a Lum-Tec Phantom case. It was a lighter strap, I believe elephant skin...
Here's some photos...

I still like the first one better, but I would buy one either way.

Mark, I think it looks good and suits the watch well. I like both designs but prefer the all-cream one. I say go for it, the contrast will probably make you appreciate your dark straps more too.

I think it's good to experiment with straps even if you're unsure, because they're cheaper than whole watches. :)

Thanks Chris. I saw that one on their site, and I actually thought it looked really sharp. But I had a problem with it being elephant skin. I felt bad contributing to the destruction of those amazing animals. Don't get me wrong, I'm not an activist or PITA member or anything like that, just had a moment of guilt when I saw it was elephant. :?

I'm with you 100% on that, and if anything that is the one thing that I don't like about ABP Paris - they seem to have a lot of potentially guilt-inducing stuff (including elephant) available on their site. :?

I am with you guys, elephant and seal are out of the question, wouldntt feel right wearing their skin on my wrist :|

Pig too, but thats more of a religious thing.

Makes me appreciate that noble hideous animal the cow even more, steaks and great looking leather! plus they are as likely to go instinct as roaches.
