Interesting read. Im in discussions with a guy at the moment to buy a Ulysse Nardin MMD and he is based in the UK.

I've asked about insurance and he told me Royal Mail will cover upto $3800 USD (sale price will be about $4100 USD).

Im happy for it to be slightly under insured and in this case but about $300 USD however looking at the exchange rate, $2500 GBP = $3477 USD.

This would then increase the under insured amount to $700... will need to take this up with him.

Not sure what you've posted is correct Jay...as far as I know the only service Royal Mail provides from UK to US (where I assume you are?) is "Air-Sure" where the maximum insurance available is only £500.00 (~$700.00)

Considerable shortfall on the value of the watch!

I stand to be corrected of course

Seems your doing all the "moving" here...prepared to take a minimal risk on RM losing the package, but he's not. Pay his fuel costs too?! Guy must be a pretty unbending seller - or you're desperate to get the watch

Must be something nice - care to share; a clue even ? :)

David your not wrong

Deal has fallen through!!! After me agreeing to everything including paying for fuel I was told It had to be PM on a week day  I explained I worked at least 70 per week and could only do the weekend (I had drawn the cash out of the bank and offered to go up today as it is my birthday tomorrow and my family are taking me out.) the seller said no way so I pulled out of the sale as I had had enough.

Oh well the hunt continues

Been there before and tbh a seller with that sort of attitude really puts me off regardless of how much I "want" the watch.

There's always another must have watch just around the corner
