Both the recent post from MJBryant on 2 information links (ebooks) and fantastic recent posts by Roff on watch movements etc has lead me to a question of literature I wish to ask of the forum. In recent times I've been reading information on the internet which has been great but as there are many people far more expert than me, are there any books, articles, discourses, monologues, journals etc that anyone has read and recommends on watch movements etc.

Obviously Roff has been doing an awesome job of providing concise yet detailed explanations on various subjects (drawn from various sources) but if anyone wanted to dig deeper, where would they go?

I'm not sure if this has been covered before in the forums but will keep looking just in case.

Thanks in advance!

There really isn't much out there. There are two main types of book - the price guides / model references that dominate the market and are really just picture references, and hte hugely technical books that try to teach you how to repair a watch.

Some of the best books are some of the different history books, some of which can have sections on movements etc. Also, take a look at some of the pocket watch books as some tend to be more informational.

Can't really recommend a single book to give you what you need though.
