Today I realized that I suffer from watch snobbery. While at the mall, I passed several jewelry stores and while in the past I would spend time staring at all the different Citizen, Seiko, Movados and such.... not anymore. Just a quick glance at their inventory and I'm on my way. I cant even enjoy the cheap bargains anymore.

I blame most of you for encouraging and promoting my hobby/habit! :)

I hear ya bro!

I'm like that too - I just glance at the "cheaper" watches to see if there is anything individual in there, which isn't a clone of something more expensive (which a lot of them are). I also think that the Seiko and Citizens etc are overly fussy looking....

Most luxury ADs here don't sell the cheap stuff though.

Unfortunately (fortunately?) this is what happens!

Most High Street stores don't even get a glance when I'm in town. Although I did stop by one branch of Ernest Jones the other day as I noticed they started selling Ball watches and I'd never seen any in person. But 5 minutes later I was on my way again.......

Funny you are saying this as just yesterday my wife, son, his wife and I were at a large mall in the Chicago area. My son and I are both wearing "lings" and we did'nt even care what the jewelry stores had to offer. You would walk by and they would ask can I help you with anything......and always they would hear......No thank you.

Welcome to the club!

It is symptomatic of quality in any aspect of life. I grew up with a very humble background and to my parents it was unheard of to buy brand name groceries rather than own brand products. As I became more successful I had a tough time dealing with the 'guilt' of spending so much on an item that did the same function as something for a fraction of the price - car, watch, clothes, whatever.

However there came a point when I just figured out that I was only going to get one crack at this life (as far as I know) so I might as well enjoy it the best that I'm able.

Clearly with watches I'm a snob now, but I'm not going to feel guilty about it :lingsrock:

I am afraid I suffer from the "watch snob" sydrome also. I have Breitling and this forum to thank for it. I own two Rolex's but the Breitling Old Navitimer I now own gets the most wrist time.

Well... i try to be open minded when visiting the local jewelers but i must say it's all quick glances, maybe a little bit longer with the Tags, nothing beats a Breitling for me and the only brand worthy of some well deserved drooling!!!

It gets worse... there is a particular mall in town I just don't go to anymore because they don't have a breitling ad

Ya I can top that one In2Deep. Sometimes when I need clothes I drive an hour to a mall in Ann Arbor Michigan so I can pop in my AD and look at the lings. Forget that I have 3 malls within 20 minutes around here.
