I've thought about getting into watchmaking in a more traditional sense - reapir and service of movements, but I just don't have the time to invest right now and I think I would start with some of the $5 movements from no name manufacturers rather than something this pricey.

I also do a lot of woodwork and there are a number of kits you can buy for long case clocks that are a lot cheaper than this - some already have movements, but you can get ones with pre-stamped wooden movements.

That's what I was thinking of to start with - I just think it'll have to wait a few years until I have more time to dedicate to it.
