Not fair, having a AD so close. I did a little research and appearantly B&R has three different sizes in the Instrument line (square). 46mm, 42mm, and 39mm.

Hope they have a Phantom for you to look at.

They didn't have a phantom, in the 46mm they had red and yellow in the BR01-94 and a blue in the non chrono (92?). They also had an orange in the titanium with carbon fibre dial which I actually preferred.

Unsurprisingly as Toronto's high end department store they wouldn't budge from msrp - $7,150 for the black, $7,800 for the titanium. They looked good, but not at that price. There's one other dealer in Toronto so probably worth wandering over and asking about price.

Knew they'd start calling to you sooner or later Roff! I was hesitant at first but they're getting inside my head now. :)

Yesterday I found an orange BR01-96 (the big date model) on the bay and now I can't stop thinking about it. I won't post the link (not sure that's allowed) but it's worth checking out.

I've tried on the red BR01-94, which was beautiful but a bit too pricey for me at the moment (over $9k Australian). Discounts are not easy to come by on the instrument line at the moment...

I brought this up in another post but no one commented. Would anyone be interested in a Breitling all black model like this B&R Phantom? I think the all black would look nice on the SuperOcean Steelfish or the SuperOcean Heritage. What do you guys think? This might not be a bad idea for the BreitlingSource LE? I would be very interested in a LE along these lines.

Yep, I think that would look good, although if you're going for the stealth look I think bigger is better - not sure whether the Fish or the SOH would be chunky enough compared to, say, my B&R or your U-Boat.

That's the problem I have with them - nice watches, but then I think what I can get from my regular AD with the discount I get there. There will literally only be about $200 difference between the Zenith Chronomaster XXT Open Grande Date that I'm looking at and the titanium BR01-94, and that just doesn't make sense to me.

reminds of of another watch brand that starts with a P and ends with an I ;)

gotta say Zenith and JLC are great brands with great movements for reasonable prices.. just not being worn by celebrities at the moment...

crazy the markup for just red or blue lume...

I would prefer something along the lines of the SA, but was using the SteelFish and SOH since this was a popular choice with the Breitling Source LE discussions. They are halfway there with the new Black Steel Skyland and now Super Avenger. All they would have to do is go all black on the dial. If they ever do something like this on a Breitling model I will be first in line!

Only if they find a way to make it "solid" black and not only a coating.

Yeah - black ceramic. And if the B&R is only PVD, that's scary for northwards of $7,000.

Bell & Ross AD visit in montreal.. very limited selection. all phantoms sold.. pretty much MSRP on all LE's. Showed me a red lume model which was quite impressive. They were selling a previously owned for 1 year blue lume 46mm which had quite a few areas where the PVD came off.. they dealer did say it was possible to refinish it? i guess by disassembling and applying PVD again on the entire case?

they had a BR03-92 military which was pretty nice

Yes, the only way to make it look perfect would to remove the entire coating and then re-coat. Otherwise there will always be traces of "fixing".

From what I hear, the military type BR03 is in heavy demand, not quite as much as the phantom but almost.

The AD I spoke to yesterday said that he couldn't get any more phantoms, at least not the 46mm LE. Didn't ask about any others.

We didn't come to final agreement on what a discount might be - he suggested that the taxes would be automatic (13%), but that there might be more room depending on what I was looking at specifically.

Having seen some of them in the flesh, while the black coated ones are cool, I don't think they would get as much wear as I already have the AS Blacksteel, so I'm leaning towards the titanium BR03-94 with orange dial, and at $7,800 list in Canada I just don't think it's good value.

 PVD? No thanks!

I know they never will, but the quicker watch makers move away from surface coatings the better in my book. If they want to make a black watch, then make the damn thing in ceramic. If it's good enough for IWC (the new Top Gun Double Chronograph is superb), Panerai and er..... Chanel(!), then it should be good enough for the rest of them.

If anyone is looking for one of the other color limited edition Bell & Ross models, let me know. My AD is their largest account in the US. I was told their Phantoms are already sold out, but all the other colors are available. Discounts are possible on all models, but not sure how their discounts compare with Breitling discounts.
