Stopped by a Rolex AD today. Im having new watch withdrawl syndrome and thought that I could at least look at the Rolex dealer since their local and my Breitling AD is 2 1/2 hours away.

Anyway, they had the usual stuff in the case and I meantioned the new sea dweller. She said she had one in the back that was on hold for a customer but I could look at it. Well duhhhh.

First impressions, it is as big as a Breitling. Nicely sized at 43mm. The bracelet still seems "cheaper" than a Breitling but ..... The writing on the inner bezel wasnt nearly as distracting as I thought it would be. In fact it wasnt all that noticable at all. Pretty nice Rolly. Probally the nicest one I've seen... just because of the size. The bad: price. Its was priced at around $9500 USD or so. And they dont discount Rolexs at all. Ouch!

Which brings me to the next thing. I was commenting on how nice it was that Rolex finally made a man sized watch and she said that thier rep kinda mentioned something along the line, that this might not be the last of larger sized rolex's!!!!!! Time will tell.

I've still not seen one in the metal, so to speak. But from pictures alone, I think it's the best looking Rolex (apart from the Yachtmaster II) by a country mile. Good to hear that sub-dial writing is not as noticeable as it looks in the pictures! Unfortunately, the price was always going to be a show-stopper for me. Over £6K GBP for a steel non-complication (i.e. non-chronograph) is crazy IMHO.

I agree completely Driver...

The watch is great (for being a non Breitling watch), but the price is all wrong.

I think it handles pretty well. Nice look, well built. And I had the opportunity to buy one from my AD at a great price, but wasn't too happy to buy it just out of speculation.
