Hi everyone

This could be the most random question but dose anyone know why or if their is a reson
Behinds the fairly complicated clasp design, I been thinking why Rolex have made the clasp like this when It could be made simple I understand the guide lock system but it's that very front pice that I can't understand, I really love the new clasp design but I just can't figure out why it's like this it's looks a very solid and cleaver design but I'd just love to know why it's like it it, dose anyone Ells have a reason behind it?

That front piece is there for leverage so the clasp can be adjusted while locked on the wrist. It is a very good adjustable clasp, I just wish their bracelets were a little wider.

Hi so can I extend my bracelet when it's on my wrist then? And yes it would look nicer if it was wider, I wonder what brand has the best or most useful bracelet or clasp design.

Yes, it allows for adjustments while ya on the wrist. I think the most comfortable bracelet I've worn is the Mesh bracelet on the Superocean Heritage.

I never knew that and I hasn't tried that bracelet I might have to go and try one on now, I think the most comfortable bracelet I have ever wore was this rolex one.

No.. This looks like the SubC clasp, not the DSSD bracelet. It cannot be adjusted on the wrist. The front piece the OP is referring to is levered to unhook the clasp when taking off the watch. It works and feels great. There's no effort required to undo the claps unlike a Breitling clasp, for example, which requires a bit of force to open. I guess it's not really necessary, but it's a nice touch.

Apologies for the misinformation, I thought it was a Deep Sea clasp. Pete is right, it can't be adjusted while on the wrist, however it makes opening the clasp very easy.

It's funny because a lot of the purists hate the new clasp, argument being why complicate something so simple. But having a piece with the new clasp, I can say I've never had a problem with it and it feels solid.

It isn't a real mystery - it functions primarily as a spring loaded safety clasp. Unlike the Breitling safety clasp that has to be manually closed on top of the main clasp, the Sub C clasp is integrated. IMO the nicest and absolutely the most functional clasp I have ever had or even looked at. That one part of the clasp is smart, simple and functional, which is what design and engineering is all about...or should be. Put it together with the adjustable portion and it is perfect. I thought the DSSD clasp was rather horrible, because the extension looks odd and out of place with the rest of the bracelet.

+1 for the clasp. Being able to adjust (up to 20mm) with a quickness... ahh Actually, who am I kidding? I love the whole damn watch!

Thanks everyone I really like the new clasp because as mention it feels solid and the lines flow with the clasp, the old simple clasp I didn't like to much because they tried to make the links match on the clasp and I thought that ruined the clasp. This time I think they pul a lot of thought into the whole feel and design and i think it makes the watches feel solid and more secure on the wrist.

They are produced to a solid feeling standard. Only on a chosen few occasions will i find it appropriate to use another type of strap.

Yes they are very confutable and solid very good design
