The size by itself doesn't mean anything to me. How the watch makes me feel on my wrist is everything. My collection is 36mm to 60mm, but most of my watches are 47mm as that's the size I feel most comfortable with, even though I only have a 6.75" wrist.

Not sure I am the same on upsizing. I get the difference and what effect it has on me, both ways. Like driving one vehicle for a long time then swapping for something completely different. Takes time to get used to it.

When you expect it to not be there getting in the way, it does. When you expect it to clunk on a desk top or get caught on something else, it doesn’t. It makes me do a double take every time for a few days regardless of up or down sizing.
I agree though, it does feel weird. In think you would have to be dead not to notice it. :)

I wear 38 to 44. I love them all. Who cares wear what you like not what you think other people would like to see.

I agree with you, but he was asking if anyone experiences ‘watch size adjustment’ when swapping from one size watch to another, and also any commentry on; that he finds it easier to embrace bigger watches from smaller ones but not vice versa.

For me it's not necessarily about the width. It's more about the thickness, and how it sets on my wrist. 42 is about my sweet-spot. With my SF, It feels just a tad too big at 44 mm. But my Oris TT1 Feels perfect at 44 mm. The lack of thickness, and the angle of the lugs make it a winner in the comfort department. As I've gotten older, I realized I don't need a watch that can go a mile underwater.

Yes. I got a SA for my 40th birthday and wore it daily for over a year. When I went to put on my Submariner, a wedding present from the Boss, it felt like my daughters Mickey Mouse watch.

I totally agree with you. I think that the thickness plays a huge part of the size I like to wear. Even though my collection is from 42-46, I tend to feel most comfy with 46mm size. I think that that's one of the reasons why I mostly wear my Navi World and Maurice Lacroix.

For me it depends on the type of watches, what I am wearing for and most importantly whether it looks proportional on my wrist. I prefer slightly bigger size for technical watches like chronographs as a minimum size is needed to contain all the information on the dial while keeping it legible and not over busy. Around 43mm to 44mm is perfect for my wrist size.

Where dress watches are concerned I would prefer a flat and smaller size to elegantly fit well under my cuff. After all for dress watches I prefer clean looking dials for that "less is more" look so a big dial is not needed to contain the details. Therefore 38mm to 40mm range is good for me. For pieces like Rolex I don't mind 40mm to 41mm due to the design of the lugs that will appear too big and not sit nicely on my wrist if they were to grow to 43mm. 40mm to 41mm is therefore the ideal size in this case. Panerai watches have this subtle ability to still fit aesthetically on smaller wrists so I can take up to 47mm for their pieces.

Therefore it's more of like depending on situation and I personally won't feel awkward switching from big watches to small ones or vice versa. Instead I like the feeling of switching because it gives me a refreshed feeling every time I change. The feeling is like I just acquired a new watch.
