Unless yr watch is gold or with plenty of diamonds on it, it is not likely to attract pickpockets. You should be more careful with yr wallet instead, as pickpockets tend to focus their attention on where u keep your money and wallet. However I might not encourage you to wear yr Chronomat 01 because you will need to carry your 7 month daughter so I would advise that you avoid wearing accessories on the wrist (especially when Chronomat is rather big and heavy) to prevent unforseen " accidents" such as knocking yr watch against yr baby and hurting her accidentally or getting her clothes "entangled" to yr watch when u carry or lay her down. I don't have children yet but my friends who have new born babies normally avoid wearing anything on their hands to prevent hurting the baby accidentally.

Don't laugh. One day I was talking to my 3 year old and she asked if she could have a watch like mine one day. That is a huge hurt... To my wallet.

Seriously, can we submit this post for the "most ridiculous posts of the year thread?"

There are very few watches that would catch the average person's eye, let alone a Chronomat 01. And even if someone did, it isn't easy to take a watch off of someone without them knowing.

Istanbul is a great safe city if you use normal precautions. Wear your watch comfortably and enjoy a great experience! If you can I'd also suggest checking out the cities surrounding Istanbul. We started there, then traveled along the west coast all the way to the south and then came straight back up the middle. Turkey is a wonderful country!

I'm sure Istanbul is fine. I wouldn't wear expensive luxury watches in third world countries in general though. Doesn't make me feel good, seeing all the poverty around. No need to show off, find it disrespectful towards them. Purely personal opinion, not judging anyone here.

Istanbul is not in a developing (rather than 'third world') country.

Agreed, I stand corrected. Apologies to the Turkish people.

Just to come full circle on this issue, I ended up bringing my Chronomat 01 and wore it everywhere I went. I didn't have any issues at all. I don't even think anyone noticed I was wearing it. I felt completely safe. The Turkish people are exceptionally nice. They were very fascinated with my 7-month old daughter and her bright blue eyes. If I had a dollar for every time someone stopped me to comment on her eyes, I'd have added another watch to my collection by now.

Regarding Istanbul on the whole, I was a little let down. It was a much "dirtier" city than I anticipated. I understand it's one of the oldest cities in the world, but it felt pretty run down. It reminded me a lot of Mexico City, with MC having sections of the city much more modern than Istanbul. I honestly can't say that I'd go back intentionally. I also had a stomach bug for nearly two weeks after returning home.

I hear this a lot on all the watch forums. My advice would be to wear anything you can afford to lose to anywhere that you are unfamiliar with. Why risk a lose or worse getting hurt over something that is preventable. Wear something that doesn't attract attention, ie; anything not luxury branded.

Your joking, right? No really, this is a gag, eh? :poke:

Sounds silly but happened to a friend of mine before. So far almost all my friends who have new born babies avoid wearing anything on the hands, even rings. When I have my own one day I will avoid that too, at least when I am carrying my baby, I don't take chances.

My wife bought a wedding ring specifically that wouldn't snag on or be sharp against a baby's skin. No word of a lie. She rubbed her fingers across the top of 100 rings before she found one smooth enough. It's a band with inlaid diamonds. Not kidding. Shes a nurse FYI. Apparently this is common at the hospital with both babies and the elderly.
