Never paid much attention to the Royal Oak and thought it wasn't my kind of thing, but in court this morning there was a guy wearing one (black dial, non-chrono, bracelet) and it looked great. I couldn't stop staring at it. I was surprised how good it looked in the metal.

 I've been advised to say nothing. If I don't post for a long time, you'll know what's happened.

Having done some research since yesterday, I think it was a black dial 15400 that I saw. Really impressed, it looked stunning in person.

I've not tried on the 15400, which is 41mm, but that white 39mm I had was just gorgeous. Additional size and thickness might make it a bit more versatile, if they got the proportions right.

The BlancPain Fifty fathoms was released in 1953 and was in service with several Military diving teams a full year before the Sub got wet.

The obvious choice

1. Rolex Submariner

It was 1954 that Rolex originally released the Submariner, and the watch industry hasn't been the same since. The Submariner was never released as a luxury product and still isn't.
