Picked this up from the watchmaker yesterday! My Dad bought this watch in the 1950s. The last time it was serviced was January 1970. The watchmaker told me that, in fact, they did the servicing. That's how long they have been in business.

Very proud to wear this watch now. I even managed to find the rattling old Kreisler bracelet which was the last one he had on the watch. Eventually, I think that I will get a nice leather strap and Omega buckle, and I will search for a buckle with the old logo.

The watch has lost but a few seconds since yesterday when it was set by the watchmaker.

Thanks for looking.

It's so much better when your vintage watch actually has some genuine personal meaning. Great stuff.

Gorgeous piece Carl, especially given the history. Let it settle for a while and then let the watchmaker know what the daily error is and he or she will be able to regulate it for you.

Thanks, Roff! Very obliging watchmakers, they are. I'm sure it will be no problem.

Funny thing, I always wanted a nice vintage watch. Always looked around, mostly on the internet, but never quite took the plunge. A couple of years ago, my brother and I came across this beautiful watch. It instantly brought back old memories. It's also incredible that it was serviced at the same watchmaker in 1970.

If you are ever in Vancouver, Otto Friedl is a great place to visit. A very small shop in the lower mezzanine of the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. They have quite a few very interesting vintage pieces that they sell on a consignment basis as well. They also have their own brand of watches, made for them by a watchmaker in Switzerland. The shop is a little piece of Vancouver history. Of course, it doesn't hurt that the Omega Boutique is upstairs in the main lobby. And a fantastic large piano bar off the lobby.

On my wrist all weekend:

Great! Hope you enjoy it here. Otto Friedl is open Mon - Fri, 930am - 5pm only. Not on weekends. Here is a link to the website:
http://www.ottofriedlwatchservice.com/

When I was in there the other day, they still had a mint Rolex "Kermit" and a vintage Omega X-33.

Cheers,
Carl

You can't beat a watch with personal history like that. Superb piece Carl.

That's a really pretty watch. The connection with your Dad makes it priceless. My Father wore an Omega Constellation in the last few years of his life but after he died i couldn't find it among his possessions. I've always felt a little sad about that. Bravo for getting yours up and running; wear it with joy!
