I think that the manufacturers who have been using silicon escapements for the last few years may have issues with that claim.

It seems a bit disingenuous that in both articles the only comparisons Omega makes are to soft iron core protection. Think Milguass, the Omega Railmaster, etc...

Like Roff noted, movements with non-metal balance springs and silicone are nothing new.

That said, the pic of the black dial AT with the yellow seconds hand - beautiful

i thought from reading different articles that the ENTIRE movement was anti magnetic/non ferrous metal. vs/ protector plates ala milgaus...

Which is largely irrelevant.

Magnetism obviously affects any ferrous metal, but if you have a magnetised base plate (for example) it makes absolutely no difference. There are some areas of the watch that have slight practical implications from magentism - the mainspring for example, but the issue for 99.9% of cases is when the escapement becomes magnetised. That can be prevented with a soft iron core as has been common, or by eliminating all ferrous compounds from the escapement - silicon, which has been used by a number of manufacturers for the last few years. Omega goes further by saying that the entire watch is unaffected by magnetism, but that's a bit like adding 100 jewels to a movement - completely irrelevant to the function.

So what are they doing to achieve 15 times greater than the milgaus?

Well as it says in both of the linked articles they are using non-ferrous materials.

Virtually the entire movement is made of non ferrous metals, the point is that the whole movement doesn't need to be made of non ferrous metals to make the watch effectively anti-magnetic. Gauss measurements are simply the thresholds of when the watch becomes magnetised, but when people talk about a watch being magnetised they are talking about the escapement - because that's what affects accuracy, and if the escapement is non ferrous then the watch is sufficiently anti-magnetic to operate in the real world.

Put another way, if you put a UN or Breguet with a silicon escapement alongside this watch and subjected the watch to a high level of magnetism then the baseplate, wheels, etc in the Breguet or UN would become magnetised but both watches would maintain accurate time.

Wasnt Ball the originator of the Anti-Magnetic watch ?

I've heard that the phrase "On the Ball" came from its use in the train industry back when timing was life and death critical (think about it).

Ok, it's a pretty watch, ok, the seconds hand is cool, but with an orange lightning bolt and a green crystal... It'd have been really cool.

Aside from the relevance (or irrelevance) of the materials, this half-a** and completely originality-lacking effort to take on a classic like the Milgauss is not worthy of the rather high esteem one should have for Omega...

Wonder why they did not announce this on a Chronograph?
