When I first saw the Hamilton Pan Europ limited edition, I liked it but wasn't a huge fan of the blue dial and the strap it came with. Hamilton introduced a new standard production model at Basel with either a silver or black dial. I'm not completely familiar with Hamilton, but what are everyone's thoughts on them? I think retail on this watch is somewhere in the $1950 range.

That is a really nice looking peice regardless of the price point. Definitely worth a further look. I prefer the black dial out of the two

Interesting modern/vintage look. I had initially not given much credence to Hamilton but I have seen a couple of their pieces that I like. I had read somewhere that Swatch is making a dedicated effort to upgrade workmanship and quality to be a brand a notch below Omega in their hierarchy.

I thought an AD I met told me these were going to be limited editions but possibly not. Only saw a picture when I met him. His wife bought him one of the first Pan Europs. Nice guy, former BB&B watchmaker who opened up a little shop. Just down the block, too; if I have time I may stop by next weekend to see if he's wearing it.

I am on the fence on these, but can see why they could be very popular. If I had to choose, I would go with the silver one.

I've never been a massive Hamilton fan in the past, but I really like the black one. I tend to really like "modern-retro" pieces, so this one hits that spot quite nicely.

I quite like them, would be silver for me because it's more unique. At the price point I would worry that the bezel would be prone to scratches on the black so wonder how it would age.

I don't know anything about the quality of current Hamiltons but I like the look of some of their models (particularly in the Khaki line). Of the two you showed, I definitely prefer the black -- the silver reminds me of a 1960s kitchen, which is good if that's the look you're going for.

Not bad but does not thrill me. Can't decide if it wants to be sporty or dressy...maybe on a different strap it would be better. I think I would pick silver, but both are OK.

The blue was the only LE model in a run of 1,971. These are the new standard models. The straps are different and these don't have the deployant buckle the LEs have. I like the black one, but just not sure enough to go ahead of picking it up without seeing it first. At this price point, I figured it just might scratch that itch I have for what Driver called a "modern-retro" piece.

i have a 3 hamiltons all purchased 2nd hand, new they are a bit pricey but 2nd hand you can get some decent bargins

out of those 2 i would go for the black, on a side note all the hamiltons I have are on a braclet but read a thread somewhere that stated issues with the leather straps

I quote like the silver dial. Reminds me a little of the 70s datoras.
