The Rolex 4130 calibre (I assume this is the current Daytona movement?) apparently has 290 parts.

Not a clue who long it takes to make one, and the time spent actually working on one as opposed to the actual elapsed time will be very different I would imagine. It's not like one watchmaker works constantly on one watch from start to finish : a part made watch will have periods of down-time during the construction process as it moves through the build process.

290 isn't actually all that many for a chronograph. The Zenith El Primero for example has around 330 parts (depending on the variant), and the Breitling B01 has 346. Obviously the Daytona doesn't have a date complication, but even so, I'd be surprised if that accounted for almost 60 components.

Errrr, unless you are very skilled watchmaker who is able to dismantle teh movement completely, then I think you might have more than just a little trouble counting all the parts yourself!
