Hi All !

When getting an ex-ray and wearing a watch - will the watch become magnetize???

Sorry for the question, but I have to get an ex-ray (chest) this afternoon and was wondering if I should wear my new Panerai or an IWC with the cage which protects against magnetic fields.

Thanks in advance for your replies,

Enezdez

I imagine that the shielding is pretty good, but there are strong magnets in the machines so personally I would say no watch.

Oh yeah - electromagnets, not 'proper' magnets :poke:

That's why we need you Ian

Only a true WIS would ask about his watch prior to undergoing a x-ray. Hope all is ok healthwise.

Second the motion.

Like a pilot with a health problem, the first thing that comes to mind is not health, but "How will this affect my medical?", the "medical" being the certificate proving that one meets medical standards for flight.

When we crashed...They would get us back in the air as soon as we were released from the hospital!
That is ...If you could still fly. Crashed Three times...Only two as Command Pilot

My thoughts exactly. I must not be a true WIS, because I'd just leave the watch at home and not give it a second thought.

I am a dentist and take many xrays and I'm around the equipment every day and have not had problems with magnetism with my watches.
