Very true, so why do they bother? As far as I know, no other manufacturer at Tag's level (or even a few places above) bothers to invest so much time and effort into producing innovative concept pieces that'll never see the light of day. If they want to change market perception, they need to start producing better "standard" watches for the public to buy : they can't churn out boring ho-hum stuff for years and years, and then expect people to be all over mega-expensives pieces like the V4. It's like just about being able to hit a tennis ball, and then expecting to ranked number 1 at Wimbledon! They need some stuff going on in between first!

Well the cynic in me says that it's because Joe Public often doesn't know the difference. They come up with something weird and wacky that gets them huge amounts of press, some of which crosses in to the mainstream and then someone looking for a 'decent' watch picks up a copy of WatchTime at the local store sees an article on an amazing new Tag and then goes to the watch store and says "let me see the Tags, I read about how wonderful they are".
