Obviously a disappointment, but better to find out now rather than after the transaction was completed.

DeWitt appeals, I've also got an angle on another niche brand with a very unique look and a very good price. Only problem for me is that it's modified ETA (very modified, but still).

I've got access to some other Martin Brauns as well, but not another Astraios.

Very sorry to hear that Roff.

What a dissapointment. It would have been a very unique addition to your, already, eclectic watch collection.

I was really looking forward to your review on the interesting timepiece.

I now look forward to your next immenent announcement.

That's a real shame Roff. I tell you what though - personally I think the Boreas XL is a better looking MB anyway, so maybe losing out on the Astraios isn't so bad after all? (Just looking at the positives here! )

And besides, you never know what Basel may throw up as well..........

You think? The Boreas guilloche is interesting, but I prefer the Astraios as a watch. Basel is of course around the corner, and not desperate to buy something for the sake of it, I'm just gutted that this didn't work out. If it an be repaired in a timely manner then I might still go back to it, I'm just a bit wary of buying a 'new' watch that needed substantial repairs.

Yeah I reckon the Boreas LX is MUCH nicer personally, especially as it comes in the newer 44mm case with nicer lug design. It just looks more contempory and unique. I mean, what's not to like about this -

That aside I'd also be very wary of buying a "new" watch that's needed major work on it. I'd always have the niggling doubt that the movement might be a lemon.

Well I am now officially gutted.

After various Paypal issues the payment finally cleared today and I heard from the seller that when he checked the watch prior to shipping it is broken (it's brand new). The month display is non functional and accuracy is off by 2 hours per day. The watch needs to go to Switzerland for servicing / repairs which could take months.

I'm therefore getting my money back and a Martin Braun will not be joining my collection.

I guess the good news is that I can be back in the market for another watch.

I'm really frustrated by this because I was looking forward to such a unique combination of complications, but I guess that everything happens for a reason.

Damn Roff sorry to hear that  though waiting for Basel might be a smart move! The economy is turning around and manufacturers are starting to come out with some niche models again!
