Hi all,

I have my favorite Breitling SuperOcean as my 'special occasion' watch but I really have my sights set on a U-Boat flightdeck watch .... only trouble is I will need to save like crazy to afford one, are there any decent alternatives out there ... did see this posted on another site - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Engelhardt-german ... 43a4aca00e

What do you guys think ?

Is there a better option ? , the style of the watch is what appeals to me (the double cap crown, all over top etc)
as this - Image
Thanks

I don't personally like U-Boat, but Ball has a few "over the top" crowns in their Engineer Hydrocarbon line.

Check out TW Steel for a cheaper alternative to U-Boat.

Welder watches are made by the same designer. They are quartz and a little louder than the model you have pictured. They also have mineral crystals :|

I'm not a fan of u-boats either. They seem a bit plasticy to me - kind of noveltyish. I do like the Balls, but don't think they have quite the size you're looking for. If you'd like somewhat of a cheap alternative, check out Nixon watches.

You can buy a 50mm Parnis Flightdeck for less than $100 shipped. It's a quartz movement obviously and has a mineral crystal. But the crystal is recessed, so nicks shouldn't be a problem. The watch is extremely well made for the price and even has a nice AR coating.

Wearing one of these around for a bit cured me of my U-Boat interest. It's just too big. For something big and bold, I wear a Skyland.

You can buy the Parnis here:
