A bit of a continuation of a question I had posted on another thread yesterday, and thought I could get some more help from a dedicated thread.

The question at hand is giving watches to a significant other. I am deciding what type of watch I should give to a GF this christmas.

First, I am pretty sure a B is a bit of a stretch, as I am not even sure she would appreciate the craftsmanship and mechanical aspects that seperate Breilting and other higher end timepieces from standard issue watches. Maybe as a second watch we can talk about Lings, but I am not sure spending a couple grand "hoping" she enjoys it is the best plan.

That being said....I am looking for a ladies watch brand/style etc in the $250-$750 range and thought you fellas may be able to point me in the right direction.

Really looking for something pretty traditional that has multiple strap options.

I got the watch below for my wife a few months ago and she loves it. It's put away for the winter but I just got her another one but with a black strap and a black dial. The white dial version is the smaller one at 36mm but the black dial one is 39mm. I only have pictures of the white dial now. These retail for $295 and are on a rubber strap. They come in all different colors. Michele has quite a few choices when it comes to womens watches, and it's a brand you should consider. A lot of their watches will have multiple strap options.

That is a nice looking ladies sport watch. I'm not a fan of the lettering around the bezel, but I checked out some of their other models. I will def keep them in the running over the next few weeks.

I went over and looked at the Hamilton ladies watches and was pleasantly surprised, although I shouldn't have been because Hamilton was my first "big boy" watch, and I have no complaints for the price point. Obviously I dont expect the same quality of my Lings in a $700 watch, but I digress.

I found a really nice ladies watch similar to your wife's Michelle. The Jazzmaster Seaview Medium. A 37mm dive watch w/ MOP dial.



One of the coolest things about it is the bracelet changing system that allows strap changes without tools. Talk about a perfect option for a lady who most likely would never mess with it if not for the ease. And the big kicker is that the watch comes with three strap options as a package. I have yet to nail down an exact price for the package, but I have seen the $700 range. Talk about a deal! A self winding auto with a display back and a SS bracelet, plus a leather, and rubber strap!!!!!

I am pretty sold, but what do you guys and girls think?

Cant go wrong with a Gucci. Ive yet to find a girl who cares more about the inside of a watch than the outside (though im sure they exist ).

I bought my wife this Gucci a couple of years ago....

Stainless steel for around $600 at the time....looks like it's went up a little, $632.

I like it! When I saw your original post I was thinking you were looking for a mechanical and I couldn't come up with any ideas at the time in that price range.

I also liked the black dial in the video, nice clean but elegant look. May have to look more at these in the future for my wife. The quick strap change system is awesome, along with the display back.

Damn it Man! Where were you 2 months ago when I piked up the Chopard for my daughter. For under $1000 and a W/R of 330' - that watch on white rubber is the bomb.

I am a big fan of that Choppard and your thread on it sort of kickstarted the whole thing rattling around my head. At a more entry level price this thing adds a ton of features.

The easy change strap system is perfect for these younger folks and their instant gratification, and the dislpay back may be just enough to give her an appreciation of what is going on inside.

I am not sure if it is a real MOP dial or not, but if so I bet that ceramic bezel really sets it off.

Best thing of all is the price point, which if a discount is used, might come out to under $600.

I will say that there is almost nothing on the internets about this thing, and it was just a coincidence I found that the white version comes with two straps and a bracelet. I dont know why Hamilton doesn't have this thing plastered all over every womens magazine in America, but this thing isn't even on ebay, so that cant be a sign that it is a hot product, but she could care less.

Long story short the presentation box made special for the white dial strap set combo makes this thing a perfect gift and an even better everyday watch for a lady who doesnt currently wear one. All with just a single swipe of the card and a couple hours of a slow Friday at work.

Got word back from George today that this model is sold out and discontinued. Seems odd being that it was just introduced this past summer, and obviously if it is sold out, there is some demand. A bit confused by hamilton's business practices here, but nonetheless a bit disapointed.

Any ideas on how I could hunt this thing down, or is it just not worth it for a <$1000 watch?

Bummer... that does seem a bit odd (?).

Is there a contact off their website that can be reached to help do some kind of search for one ?

I couldn't even find the local ADs, this part of website is not working at this time.

This is what George told me, so I am guessing his contacts are much better than an 800 number. It just seems weird that a brand new model (Summer '10) is already discontinued. It isnt like this is a LE 'Ling or something, where a short run is all that is ever expected to hit the market.

Beyond that there is literally nothing on the interwebs for a grey market or second hand market, but I sort of expected that as it is a Hamilton and not a higher price point, where grey dealers can still turn a profit at 40% off. Still though....you would expect to fond something.

I am going to call the local Hamilton dealer and see if he can find anything, but I am not holding my breath. Seems a shame
