Cant decide between Bell&Ross Br01(phantom gaucher or a normal gaucher) or Breitling Superocean Steelfish? Basically its my first watch..bnr01 its kinda pricey(im still a student) since its the limited ones that im intending to get whereas the breitling seems reasonably priced and good looking, also im being told that the bnr doesnt hold much of its value, what about the breitling? your choice? TIA. :D

Well this is a Breitling forum, so you can expect that to factor in, but I have to agree that Breitlings offer more watch for the money, and the Steelfish will also likely age better than the B&R (in terms of the look not going out of style).

I think maybe the fact that you chose a Breitling forum to ask that question expresses a subconscious preference for the Steelfish on your part.

If you buy a used bnr watch, the deappreciationi factor will be already figured into the price. Thus, once you go to sell it, you won't incur a big hit, if any at all.

My vote is for the bnr

Good point on buying used. I have owned both a B&R 03-92 and a Steelfish, both bought new (close to same discount), sold both. I took a much bigger hit on the B&R than the Steelfish after selling.

A used one may be the way to go, especially if your not sure at this point in time.

Same argument holds true for the Breitling though - buy used and let the original owner take the hit.

In terms of whether Breitlings will hold value better - if you take a B&R and a Breitling that have identical list prices then the Breitling will be worth more after x years of ownership, but still not holding it's value up well. It will also come down to the percentage discount that you can negotiate from new - B&R should be a bigger discount.

I think that B&R01 is a tough watch to pull off, it's friggin huge and square, I think the Steelfish is a much more versatile watch. On a calf or croc strap it can look dressy, on a rubber strap it looks nice and sporty. The B&R is only gonna give you one look. I'd go with the Steelfish, but it's your wrist, but what makes you happy.

I've owned both.. I'd be happy with either. I think the BR is a more unique, intriguing design, but the steelfish falls within so many classic styling cues that you can't go wrong.

Although I would recommend the BR03 Phantom over the BR01. much better design as far as size goes. the 01 is difficult to wear even with large wrists.

For those who own both watches, which watch do you find yourself wearing more often?

Just my opinion...the B&R's are really nice looking but are EXTREMELY overpriced for having an ETA movement. You could buy several (if not 3) Steelfish for the price of one B&R. It just depends on your money situation really. If you have it, buy it :D

B&R gaucher is pretty rare, isn't it? Not a determining factor, but something to take into account.

Price talk apart, one has to admit that B&R have really unique design but my heart goes to the Steelfish
