I was on Tags site today and noticed the Concept Model Watch Call SLR Chronograph Aka: Mercedes Benz
BUT, In MB High end car i.e. S63 AMG there is a IWC Clock. Why is MB playing around with two different brands?

Is this just as weird to you as it is to me?

As far as I am concerned Bentley will always be sticking with Breitling and Aston Martin will always be with JLC, so why does MB have two brands going on????

Both Panerai and Girard Perregaux make (or made) Ferrari branded watches.

I get it, but why?

I feel like each should be brand loyal. I personally think it would be weird if Breitling started putting out a BMW Line of watches. Don't you?

Just thought it was interesting when I saw it and really think it's bad marketing.

Especially being IWC.... I would never want to be in the same line of automobiles as Tag!

I agree. IWC got the raw end of that deal. haha

But the truth is, it seems as though nobody is brand loyal. And what about Leonardo DiCaprio, a Tag ambassador and a Breitling Ambassador..?

Well my argument is strictly car oriented. lol
It just doesn't make sense to me. I think it help brand each brand better by sticking to a particular car brand. If I owned a Bentley watch then saw Breitling make a Ferrari edition I would be pissed. But that is JMO i guess.

When I think Bentley I think Breitling(and vise versa). That makes each brand stronger. When you generalize it, it is no longer unique.

Period. :D

I think they have such weak ties that nobody really notices (or even cares for that matter). It would be strange for Breitling because theyve built a very strong relationship with Bentley and have tied it into their marketing so deeply.

BTW, I think GP did a BMW watch also. I might be confusing it with something else, but I think ive seen more than one brand new for some crazy 70% off or something. Not popular, apparently.

Not to pick but, wasn't the SLR technically a McLaren vehicle with MB badges? I know it was branded as a MB, badges, blah, blah, blah... Things went sour with the F1 relationship, blah, blah, blah...

That was my made up explanation for your question. :D

jus wondering on top of this topic,

would these clocks (IWC, Breitling, JLC...) on these vehicles (Aston, Bently, MB) quartz? or are they automatic?

if they are quartz (which i assume they obviously would be...) i don't care much about which has which.... they r jus clock with a name label...

Quartz. Although I think I remember seeing a Bugatti that had a removable clock that would fit into a strap to be worn on the wrist. Pretty stupid, but I think it was something crazy like a tourbillon.
