Movados are awesome...if you still think its 1990... Movado and tag are the non-WIS holy grails. I cant tell you how many times I see a normal looking guy, dressed decently, but rocking a super corny Movado museum on bracelet that he must have first seen about 15 years ago when he was young, but couldnt afford. now he finally splurged, and has no idea that its not a cool watch any more.

:yeahthat

And im not saying this as though im looking down on people. I understand that not everybody has the means to get a super expensive watch. Its just so cliche and out of touch these days--no different than the person wearing acid wash jeans and parachute pants, or the mother with five kids who hasnt changed her poofy hair style since she was a popular high school cheerleader in 1988.

Now you're making fun of my pants!!!

I know what you mean though. I was pretty uneducated when I first started looking at watches and was thinking of getting a new TAG. My wife had gotten me the Movado a couple of years ago and I was pretty happy with it until I discovered the wonderful world of WIS, not that I'm one yet, but you know what I mean.

I think the OP still needs to be more specific about which TAG it is.

I agree that the entry level TAGs are pathetic - from a grail POV - but the Carrera Chrono's and Aquaracer 300m series and onwards are very, very well made watches. I've owned 3 of them. They may not be to COSC or as iconic as a Speedy, but everyone has to start somewhere.

To me, there's no shame in owning a TAG. Just don't get in a WIS's face with it. :lingsrock:

I am pretty sure it is an aquaracer line. As a newbie myself I am certainly not against TAG or think they are sub-quality, it is more the aspect that to non-WIS it is the top end. Good guy tho so I am happy he got this start.

Low and behold he even mentioned the other day that 3-4 watches is reasonable (sound familiar)....quite a change from the one $30 Timex philosophy.

As for Movado, I have a Wittnauer of the same style, black ceramic and diamond hour markers (12,3,6,9) that I bought about 4 years ago, when I didnt know a thing about watches, I use that term loosely because now I know it is more of a bracelet with a watch function, and I like to have it around to remind me to purchase at your own risk. Well that and I cant find anybody who would actually want to buy one.

I think we all probably have at least one of those.
