hey guys i know that in most cases people can get up to 30+% off breitling retail price and for rolex you would be luck to knock off 10%.

but i am very curious about other brands. comapnies like:

JLC
Panerai
IWC
Bregeut
Mont Blanc
AP

what would fair discounts be for these brands.

In my experience that seems to be model and market dependent. As a general rule all of those are in the 10 - 20% range, but some models will have no discount. Building a relationship with an AD also helps.

I can get 30% on JLC, IWC, and Montblanc. Panerai is rarely discounted. Youre usually lucky if theyll cover the sales tax. Ive read of 10% discounts once in a while but for the most part I think thats even uncommon. None of my sources carry Breguet, but the times ive been shopping around it seemed like if I did my homework that 25-30% would be possible with them too...I could be wrong though. AP: ive got no idea.

EDIT: just saw Roffs post, and he makes a good point. These discounts arent necessarily something that you should be expecting by just walking into an AD. Ive built a relationship with my AD so they discount appropriately. Im only saying that these type of discounts certainly are possible.

Canadian discounts may well be lower for these models as well. Many of them don't have Canadian distributors so they come in via the US distribution network which means an additional currency exchange and an additional import duty which will put dealer costs up.

From what I've seen, 20-25% can be had on all of those JLC and IWC. I agree with RJ about not getting any real discounts on Panerai. I've heard of some ADs discounting up to 10% on them, but that would most likely be the less popular models. I have no ideas the discounts on AP since I've never asked and my AD doesn't carry Montblanc. I'm pretty sure Breguet is discounted some, but I'm sure Sharkman can give you a better answer.

pretty amazing that Pam would have no discount. not saying i dont believe it just goes to show what a following they must have with certain collectors.
