I find myself being drawn to tool watches in a big way. The bigger and the heavier the better!!!

My latest one is the Citizen AutoZilla 1000m Professional Divers watch..... and the flavor of last month was the Steinhart Aviation GMT
I was really surprised about the quality,look and feel of this Steinhart, and for that price!!!!!

I was wondering if there was more of you guys that had this attraction to specifically TOOL Watches?

yea my hands up went from Mission @ 45 odd mill and 19mm thick to a SA 48 odd mill and 17mm thick still to small have a Citizen the same but in the 300mtr for my everyday watch big watch , i will not wear anything less that a 43mm if i can help it do have a few in my collection smaller they tend not to see the sun..

Actually, just the opposite for me. I am getting rid of my big bulky tool watches and opting for smaller more wearable watches. What used to be "big" is about 40mm. I think that is a nice size if everything else is proportional. And, there are many brands with classic designs that fit that category. Sooner or later, I predict the watch industry will change and go back to smaller sizes and there will be many more choices. It will be nice to see how thin a mechanical chronograph can be made in an affordable watch. Right now, Zenith makes (or did make) a hand wind that is very thin, about 11mm. Blancpain makes a nice one about the same thickness, however it is a little pricey. The Omega hand wind Speedy is another and affordable for me but I don't really care for it.

Similar to Kosm1o I've drifted back a little in terms of ideal case size after going "all out" for a number of years with 48mm SA's, and Bentleys. I'm never going to find myself comfortable with 41mm pieces, but I've definitely settled more at the 44mm - 46mm range. The exception is the Ploprof, but the shape of the lugs (such as they are) makes it wear slightly smaller than the numbers would suggest.

I know the SA, and certainly the Bentleys, are never tool watches, but they are very big, and as such they no longer really fall into my ideal "sweet spot". However my attraction to the Ploprof (which most certainly IS a tool watch) is simply that IMO it's the most rugged, function-over-form, manly looking watch EVER made! I love it!

Driver8 im with you i love the ploprof my wife hates it so as we all know i wont be getting one until she like it gees this life tough ,,,,,,,,
