As most of you already know, a majority of the population is right handed, and a majority of those right handers wear their watch on their left hand. Apparently, the rule of thumb is to wear your watch on your non dominant hand. Being a left hander, many questioned my choice of wearing my watch on my left hand. I suppose right handers who wear their watch on their right hand receive similar criticism?

Anyways, let me get to the point...

To the left handers out there: do you wear your watch on your left or right hand?

Should i switch to wearing watches on my right hand since i am left handed? I heard the lifespan of your watch greatly decreases if you wear it on your dominant hand...(scratches, reactions, etc).

I am left handed (and left footed and left eyed and left eared, etc) and have worn my watch on my left hand for my whole life. I have not noticed my watches getting any extra wear from it.

It would drive me nuts to wear chronographs on my right arm.

The other advantage is that if you find yourself in a murder mystery with a famous detective, you can pretty much stab anyone with impunity. The detective will notice that you wear your watch on your left hand and conclude that you are right-handed. Since the victim was stabbed by a left-handed person, you will be free from suspicion. (There is an Agatha Christie mystery where detective Hercule Poirot follows this exact line of reasoning...).

i say wear the watch on whatever hand feels best. I too am a lefty and i wear my watch on my left hand. i know what you mean about the extra wear since i use my left hand for almost everything even things like grabbing keys could cause you an unwanted scratch. i guess i just try to be that much more careful when wearing one of my watches.

I'm a lefty and wear my watch on my left. Recently I tried to switch to the right. It's hard. I posted a thread about it.

Still giving it a few days.

I am another lefty...wearing my watch on my left wrist. I have no desire to wear my watch on my right arm, but agree that life would be easier if I did. I have been doing it for so long that I think I have conditioned myself to be careful of my watch without being aware of the fact I am doing so. The only thing that bothers me is when I have to write with a pen for a long period of time...and then I take my watch off.

I'm left handed and also wear a wristwatch on my left wrist. I am very careful to remove it if I am doing something that would impart a severe shock to the watch, such as driving nails with a hammer, throwing things, playing golf, etc.

I'm a lefty and had always worn my watch on my right wrist. The use of the chronograph is a bit more difficult but I dont use it really anyways. What would bug me most about wearing it on my left would be when I write. I dont have a single desk diving mark on any of my watches and I feel like writiing with a watch on my left wrist would do that. Especially with how large watches are becoming these days.

I'm a lefty that wears righty. Think it the weirdest part would be writing...but also I hold my cell up with my left hand so I think having the watch up there rattling so close could be disturbing.
