I have to confess I have semi-seriously been considering a Baron Samedi Bubble

And there lies the problem with them - both of us like them (or perhaps a couple of the models), but we both clearly feel a little embarrassed about admitting it!

When you see the man behind the Corum Bubble, Severin Wunderman, its no wonder they look like they do, and Severin and his Bubble basically revived the Corum brand, I just don't get it. I've never seen one that appeals to me.

I'm sure that on many threads like this, the Ploprof would also be pictured... but I think it is beautiful, so there you go, there is a place for all the watches in this world.

He kind of reminded me looks-wise of a much older Michael Stipe.

Just to clarify, I didn't intend to imply that Severin was ugly, quite the opposite, he was a very charsmatic and unique individual with some very influential and famous friends. I read a great article about him in Watchtime a while back. I think I read that he passed away this past year... R.I.P.

But as a mechanical man this is just so wrong.

The band and case are made from high grade polished stainless steel, (what a waste of good steel) with hours on one side, 10s of minutes and then individual leds for minutes in between. So its showing 7.30 something at present. Its a Storm Mk 2, I only hope the Mk 3 is better!

:lingsrock:

I might be somewhat ashamed of this but I own a watch like this. It's the exact model pictured below. I think the taxes to import from Japan cost more than the watch. I purchased it about 5 years ago because it was unlike any watch I'd ever seen. I still do like it but rarely wear it. It's huge and takes the same batteries as my bathroom scale!

I submit it as an "ugly" watch only because I know that by most people's standards it would be deemed as such.

May be stepping on some toes here but this one gets my vote. I can't imagine proudly strapping that on my wrist in the 70's and heading on down to the disco.

That looks like my bathroom scale!

And neither was I. As my forum-name would suggest to those of you who know your REM songs, I'm a huge REM fan, and I'd noticed in the past that the late Severin Wunderman bore more than a passing resemblance to the legendary REM frontman - just an observation ; no more than that.
