Post subject:  Very Old Pocket Watches

Hey All,

Thought you might enjoy seeing these really old pocket watches. We toured Sigmaringen Castle today in southern Germany and saw these with other replica items from the castle's history.

The first belonged to the Prussian Prince Louis Ferdinand and was made in 1796.

The second belonged to Kaiser Wilhelm II, and was made in 1900.

Apologies for the blurriness...I had a difficult time photographing with the glare in the cases and with the bright overhead lights. Still some very interesting pieces. I am beginning to really appreciate pocket watches and may acquire one in the not too distant future. I have two older ones that I inherited from my Grandfather, but they both need repair. Don't think I would carry one, but I do like them.

I love pocket watches as well. Never have found a decent Breitling one (they spent much more time on stop watches, but there are a few pocket watches around).

Would love to start a collection, but need to do more research as to what I should be looking for.

Second one of these in particular looks like a very nice piece.
