It has been a sad week as my nation mourns her founding father who shaped a third world country to one of the most successful financial hubs today. He is finally laid to rest as the nation pays tribute to him on land, air and sea. RIP Mr Lee....

Lee Yuan Yew was indeed a special person.

My wife and I lived in Singapore from 1994 to 1999 - a wonderful experience. I read two of LKY's books: The Singapore Story - Memoirs of Lee Kuan Yew and From Third World to First - The Singapore Story 1965 - 2000. Both books offer very compelling reading and are in a display position in my home office. It's time to re-read them.

RIP LKY.

I went to the museum recently as there was an exhibition in honour of Mr Lee Kuan Yew. This was one of the highlights:

Rolex Oyster Perpetual, 1953
This watch was presented to Lee Kuan Yew by the Singapore Union of Postal and Telecommunications Workers on 11 Apr 1953. He had successfully represented the union in an arbitration over a wage dispute. Eventually nearly 1,000 clerks received 28 months' back pay.
